A woman is apt to speak luTdlto
she thinks; a man to think before he

often right.
There's many a housekeeper who
kcops all the rooms of her home
nicely aired, but never thinks of
airing her lungs. Sometimes a
pair of lungs will absolutely starve

Repose of manner, that quality
for which all Englishwomen and
some of our southern beauties are
famous, is one oi the hardest things
in the world to acquire. It means
simply the power of relaxing.
Women do not go to sleep in

The Empress of Japan Ilarnko

to her that the women discontinued
shaving their eyebrows and black-
oiling their teeth.
Nover let familiarity detract from

and fine observances take nothing
from tho warmth and genuineness
of our closest friendship, and they
add so much grace and heauty.
A certain woman dreamed for
two nights that she was about to
marry a certaiu man. Believing in
tho superstition that if the same

What tho world needs most to
day is the man who knows how to
giyc words of honest, generous ap

approval of a righteous act. It
helps a man tremendously to keep
up courago aud spurs him on to his

sneer at tbe idea of disinterested
endeavor; tho good work continual

The System Is Easy To Learn, Easy
To Write and Easy to Reid.
The time required for the average
student to learn to do court report,
ing or .write 160 words to the mm-
nte has been from one to two years,
and this was never decreased until
the discovery of the principles
used in Byrne shorthand. The av
erage student in the Byrne needs
only ten or twelve weeks, yet those
who are apt learn it in muoh less
tune.
C. H. Hollinark, of Kempner,
Tex., learned to write 164 words of
now matter, court reporting, in
thirty-ono days; Agnes Wynn, of
Wills Point, Tex., 170 words in
thirty-four days; Miss Ida Johnson,
of Livingston, Tex., 225 words in
eight weeks; Mrs. W. (4. Taylor,
of Tyler, Tex., 178 words in five
weeks and five days; Miss Alma
Young, of Houston, Tex., 160
words in twenty days, and Miss
Lula Conwill, of Leonard, Tex.,
finished bookkeeping and shorthand
in thirteen weeks, writing 185 words
por minute. Examples too numer
ous to mention might be added, but
space forbids. However, it is jus
tice to say that if the system cxeels
in one poiut above another, that it
is m its legibility and its ability to
