Presidential Candidates’
Tax Plans.” from The Tax
Policy Center. August 15,
2008.)
Here’s a little reality check
for everyone:
In the United States, wealth
is highly concentrated in a rela
tively few hands. As of 2001,
the top 1 % of households (the
upper class) owned 33.4% of
all privately held wealth, and
the next 19% (the managerial,
professional, and small busi
ness stratum) owned 51%,
which means that just 20% of
American citizens owned a
remarkable 84%, leaving only
16% of the wealth for the bot
tom 80% (wage and salary
workers). In terms of financial
wealth, the top 1 % of house
holds had an even greater
of economist Edward N. Wolff
at New York University (2004).

rulesamerica/power/wealth.htm

By 2005 the average after
tax income for households in
the bottom 20% was $15, 300
annually compared to the top
1 % whose income was over
$1,000,000. Such concentration
of income is unsustainable in a
democratic society.
Distribution mechanisms must
be at the heart of any serious

was brought to this young
lady’s attention.
Ms. Moore was asked for a
project, and “blurted out, can I
sing?” She was successful in
the project and “placed third,
and that just made me want to
go do it again.”
There would be many more
achievements. Desire to be
elected to serve on the Junior
Board of Directors not only
brought her to Vice President
of the Junior Board of
Directors and second place at
DPA but more significantly,
she found a lasting friend with
Turner County’s 4-H’er, Hunter
Brock.
“For me he invites the core
part of the family aspect of this
club.” She spoke that over the
years, when working beside
others “a bond sometimes
develops that is stronger than
the most flawless diamond.”
From that event, she went
on to greater heights of accom
plishments as Southwest
District Senior Board of
Directors, then on to State
Representative for the Georgia
4-H board of Directors. In
2007, she “was selected as one
of the four young people to
represent Georgia 4-H in
Chevy Chase, Maryland, at the
National 4-H Conference.”
In appreciation for all that
4-H has done for her young
life, she said, “So many doors
have been opened for me from
this amazing club. So many
new experiences have been
thrust in my hands.”
She admitted though that it
didn’t come easy, “like any
thing else, hard work and long
hours have been involved.” In
explaining how she got as far
as she did, she said with elo
quence that “dedication, drive,
and determination have been
engraved into my vocabulary.”
Ms. Moore went on to say,
“4-H allows a person to find
themselves, with a constant
flow of positive reinforcement.
Every single minute there’s
someone backing you, ready to
catch you if you stumble.”
The words spoken from Ms.
Moore, “There’s something for
everyone,” could be seen in the
youngest to receive a trophy.
Seven-year-old, Jared Bell,
came up to the podium with a
shy smile to shake hands and
receive his Pre-Club trophy
from 4-H Agent, Fynn Davis.
The trophy was awarded for
attending Jekyll Island,
Georgia for the Project EYE
(Environmental Youth
Education). Ms. Davis stated
that Jared has helped a lot with
community service work.
After the program, he said
in reference to 4-H, that he
“liked it”, and it was “fun.”
Jared stated that he would
“probably” do it next year. He
was proud of his trophy and
said with a big grin, “I like it,”
and he was going to “put it in
his room.”

Another reality check:
The federal government has
spent about $700 billion in Iraq
and Afghanistan so far and it’s
estimated that by 2017, the cost
will rise to as much as $3.5 tril
lion (Mark Thompson.”7
Questions About the $700
Billion Bailout.” Time.

• Charles said: “Married to
a woman who hates America,
worshipping Rev. Jeremiah
Wright. . .a bigot, racist, and
anti-American, a friend to
Louis Farrakhan. . .and Obama
wants to be President of the
United States? Lord, we pray
that the voters wake up!”
Michelle Obama has
NEVER said she hates
America. She said, “For the
first time in my adult life, I am
proud of my country.” In the
CONTEXT of that speech, the
true meaning of her statement
is obvious - that people who
support her husband can see a
picture of “what America can
be,” and that her husband’s
campaign emphasizes
“change” initiated by the peo
ple who have had little or no
voice in politics. THAT makes
her proud!
As a Christian, Obama wor
ships God and accepts Jesus as
his Savior, not Rev. Jeremiah
Also within the Pre-Club,
Chandler Crawford, who was
in the Nationals, and Kole
Gibbs received a trophy in
recognition of 07/08 Livestock
Project.
Hunter Brock, a Senior 4-
H’er, took home several
awards. They are: 07/08 State
Board of Director, Project
Achievement, State Congress,
State Council, Clovers &
Company, Fruit Sale, Teen
Leader, Dean’s Award, and
Kathy Cox’s State Department
of Education Student Advisory
Council. A silver tray was pre
sented to him for being Master
4-H’er.
The following are Senior 4-
H, which covers grades 9-12,
who received plaques:
Ra’Shelle Deming walked
away with recognition for
07/08 Project Achievement,
Poultry Judging, Teen Leader,
Photography Contest, and
Leadership in Action.
Scott Pritchard was recog
nized for 07/08 Project
Achievement, State Council,
and Teen Leader.
Scott Walters was recog
nized for 07/08 Project
Achievement, Poultry Judging,
SAFE, State Council, and
Photography Contest.
Rachel Bell received her
plaque for 07/08 Project
Achievement, Photography
contest, Poultry Judging, and
Teen Leader.
William Walker for the
07/08 Project Achievement,
State Council, Photography
Contest, Poultry Judging, Teen
Leader, and State Congress
The following also received
plaques. They are classified in
the Junior group, which covers
grades 7 and 8:
Casey Walters for 07/08
Project Achievement, SAFE,
Teen Leader, Photography
Contest, and Poultry Judging.
Jessica Bell was recognized
for 07/08 Project Achievement,
Poultry Judging, Teen Leader,
and photography Contest.
Tiffaney Peacock for 07/08
Project Achievement, State
Council, Sigma Lambda Chi
President
Also to receive a plaque for
her achievements was
Cloverleaf (grade 4-6) Calli
Lumpkin for 07/08 Livestock
Project, Poultry Judging,
Project Achievement.
There were five
Cloverleaf’s to receive trophies
in the categories of 2008
Poultry Judging and 2008
Project Achievement. They
are: Christian Anna Coker,
Maria Balderas, Rachel Lord,
Corey Megran, and Marissa
Tomlinson.
The following received a
trophy for 2008 SAFE Team:
William Brown, Brandon
Crosby, J. Davis, Mitchell
Donahoo, Michael Donahoo,
Colby Giddens, Brian Gregory,
Zack Hasty, Zane Hasty, Lance
Haynie, Patrick Ireland, Ryan
Ireland, Thad Jobe, Josh
McCard, Ryan Newborn,
Andrew Pirkle, Cory Pylant,
Wright. At least, I think that’s
what most Christians would
say.
Rev. Jeremiah Wright may
be a friend of Louis Farrakhan,
but I have found no legitimate
reference to Obama being
Farrakhan’s friend. The conser
vative bloggers have made
enormous leaps of assumption
in that assertion. And I say,
“Prove it.”
As for Obama’s heritage,
African Americans or Black
Americans are citizens or resi
dents of the United States who
have origins in any of the black
populations of Africa.(
McKinnon, Jesse. “The Black
Population: 2000 United States
Census Bureau” (PDF). United
States Census Bureau.) In the
United States, the term is gen
erally used for Americans with
at least partial Sub-Saharan
African ancestry. The last time
I checked, Kenya was in sub-
Saharan Africa. Arabs are con
sidered a race but mostly limit
ed to the Arabian peninsula
with just traces of blood found
throughout the Arabic-speak
ing world (http://www.eupe-
dia.com/forum).
As Charles says, “Vote,”
but I say, “Cast your ballots
based on truth, not deceit.” You
are welcome to your opinions,
but you can’t make up the
facts.
Respectfully,
Susan Watson
Chance Richter, Derick
Rutland, Eli Sumner, and Drew
Taylor.
Also to received a trophy
for 2008 Poultry Judging are:
Nicole Winter, Miranda Harris,
and Dallas Tedders
The following is a list of
those to receive a Trophy for
2007-2008 Livestock Project:
Jonathon Brown, Chandler
Crawford, Tanner Crawford,
Kole Gibbs, Erica Crawford,
Daniel Hardy, Brandon Hardy,
Quiyon Ezell, Mallory Myers,
Matthew Warren, Karli
Whiddon, Justin Wiggins, and
Kati Wiggins.
The following received
their trophy for 2008 Project
Achievement: Jonathon Harris,
Allison Harris, Christina
Singleton, Ashlee Newborn,
Kaylyn Baker, Ryan Clements,
Sara Cunningham, Kaitlyn
Ireland, Cullen Megran, Justin
Nixon, Madelyn Zorn, and
Maciah Mathis
For the 2007 Fruit Sale the
following received a trophy:
Kevia Gross, Rashondra
Bolden, Randesha Gibson, and
Tiffany Pearce.
Shanae Carithers, was rec
ognized for being Teen Leader.
Ms. Moore completed the
evening by singing the song
“Crazy” by Patsy Cline. She
received a heartfelt applause
from her beautifully executed
performance. “I’ve come to
expect success,” Ms. Moore
committed. For Ms. Moore, 4-
H has given her the tools and
encouragement to accomplish
that which she sets out to
accomplish.
Congratulation to all those
who worked so diligently on
their chosen activities.
Pray for our country
Editor,
A BIG THANK YOU to
Amanda Perry, Jim Wynn,
Eddie and Mary Sue Ireland,
Nettie Walker and Gloria
Watson for the letters in The
Wiregrass Farmer last week
Also Charles Perry for many
articles he has written concern
ing
our Country It seems that
this great Country that we love
so much is like a runaway train
going down the wrong track
We have gone so far from the
Christian principals on which
this country was founded So
many seem to think there is
nothing we can do, and seem
so unconcerned It is time for
all Christian Americans to
raise the battle cry and take
our nation back God parted the
Red Sea, Jesus raised himself
from the dead, and we can
bring our country back to its
Christian roots Our God is a
mighty God who is patiently
waiting for us to raise our
voices to Heaven to stop the
tide of anti-Christ actions in
our nation today We must pray
and pray as if our country and
our lives depended on it,
because they do
This election is the scariest
election we as Christians have
ever faced We all need to be
on our knees Do you believe
we can take God at His word?
Call upon His name, then
stand back and watch His won
ders to behold His scripture
gives us, as Christians the abil
ity to call upon God to heal our
land We have never been more
desperate than now. If we real
ly understood the full extent of
the power we have available
through prayer, we would be
speechless Our prayers are the
most powerful asset we have.
During WWII, there was an
advisor to Churchill who orga
nized a group of people who
dropped what they were doing
every night at a prescribed
hour for one minute to collec
tively pray for the safety of
England, it's people and peace.
This had an amazing effect,
as bombing stopped There is
now a group of people orga
nizing the same thing here in
America The USA and our cit
izens need prayer more than
ever! Please participate Each
evening at 9 P. M., stop what
ever you are doing and spend
one minute praying for the
safety of the United States, our
troops, our citizens, for peace
in the world, for wisdom and
courage for our leaders, that
the Bible will be the basis for
the laws governing our land
and that Christianity will grow
in the U. S And pray especially
for the election coming up
soon We desperately need
Godly leaders.
Please remember, that the
"Change" we need in America
is for Christians to stand up
and speak up for our Creator.
This life is so short We
CAN make a difference in this
evil world.
God Bless You.
