In 2007 and 2008, Austin authored legislation that revised the Certificate of Need Laws of
the State. He sponsored the Georgia Trauma Hospital Support Act of 20G8 and the Phar
macy Consumer and Protection Act. He also sponsored legislation that would have raised
th e ea rned in come eye m pt ion for state i ncom e taxe s fo r sen i o rs from S4.0001o S16,000.
Austin has been successful in securing state funds for major projects at Abraham Baldwin
Ag ncu 11 ural College, Mou Itr i e Tech ni ca I College, th c R u ra I Deve lop m ent Ce nter, t he G eo rg i a
Agrirama, and the opening of the Turner County Pre-Release Center. Austin and his wife,
Vivien, are members of ABAC'S Presidents club where Vivien serves as a trustee of the ABAC

South Georgia Values
Successfully fought to ban same sex marriages
and civil unions in Georgia.
Voted for the nation's toughest anti-sexual
predator law to protect our innocent children.
Supports stricter penalties for criminals
who sell drugs to our children.

The father of a 9 year old son, Wells,
Austin and his wife Vivien, reside in
Ashburn, GA and are members of First
Baptist Church of Tifton. Austin is the
son of Dr. Jim Scott and Ms, Becky Wetls
Scott, a teacher in the Tift County
public school system.
'Little Austin' grew up in and around Turner County
and his roots run deep,., absorbing the common sense
values and hard work ethics instilled in him by his
parents and grandparents, Curt & Hazel Wells
and 'Big Austin'S Mary Scott.
