Intimacy can be defined as,
“a close, familiar, and usually
affectionate or loving personal
relationship with another per
son or group,” (www.dictio-
nary.reference.com). To have
an intimate relationship with
Jesus would mean that this re
lationship was “close, familiar,
and loving”. In order to have
this type of relationship with
someone, we must get to know
them very well.
How do we develop this
type of relationship with our
friends and family here on
Earth? We communicate with
them regularly and spend time
with them as often as we can.
Unless you have dysfunctional
personal relationships, the
more you talk to and spend
time with your friends and
family, the more you develop
deep feelings of love for them.
Most likely, you will find
yourself making sacrifices of
your own time and emotions to
benefit those you love.
The same goes with our re
lationship with Jesus. The
more we spend time in prayer
talking to Jesus, and the more

Inspiration
we get to know Him through
the Bible, deeper and more
loving feelings develop for
Him. We become more like
those whom we spend the most
time with. Although it is a
good practice, simply attend
ing church will not cultivate a
deep, intimate relationship
with Jesus.
To sacrifice something,
means to “surrender” or “give
up” something valuable in ex
change for something else.
Jesus had a sacrificial love for
people. And not only those
walking on Earth at the same
time as He did, but He also
looked ahead in time and loved
those of us who were to come.
Jesus set the ultimate example
of real love.
He surrendered and gave
up His own desires even to the
point of the death of His phys
ical body in exchange for
something else: our salvation.
Jesus experienced the hardship
of dealing with people who
hated Him and who treated
Him unfairly, yet He remained
humble and loved them still.
Even as He was dying on the
cross, out of compassion He
prayed for those who were tor
menting Him saying, “Father,
forgive them, for they do not
know what they are doing,”
Fuke 23:34 (NIV).
As followers of Jesus, we
should have a strong desire to
exemplify His attributes in our
everyday lives. When we sac
rifice our time to be with
Jesus, we begin to mirror Him.
In her devotional, Jesus Call
ing, Sarah Young puts it this
way, “the more completely you
devote yourself to Me (Jesus),
the more freely you can love
people.”
When we first fall in love
with someone, we have a
strong desire to talk to them
every minute of every day, and
we want to see them as often
as possible. We miss them
when they are away. We make
sacrifices to be with and com
municate with that person.
When was the last time we
had that kind of love for Jesus,
which evoked a strong desire
to spend time with Him and
communicate with Him as
often as possible? Fet’s make
a New Year’s resolution to re
turn to our “first love”, Reve
lation 2:4 (KJV).

William Blake Couch
June 12,1991-October 31,2014
October 31st, 2014 we lost a Daddy, Son, Brother,
Grandson, Nephew, and Cousin. Our life will never be
the same but we hold the peace in our heart knowing that
he is with Our Lord & Savior. Blake was always the one
who saw the good in everyone and would try to do what
ever for anyone who asked. We never imagined we
would have to bury our Son at the age of 23. Having a
funeral was not something we had planned and the day
we received the news our life was shattered into a million
pieces. This community's out pouring love will never be
forgotten. From Family, Friends, Churches, & Strangers
donations made it possible for us to have a service for our
Son. We could never repay you and we could never thank
you enough for what you have done for our family.
With Much Thanks & Love,
The Family of William Blake Couch
