The coming encampment of the 4th Georgia regiment is a matter that should invite the attention of our local military company. The Al bany Herald of Thursday afternoon says: “There is a movement on foot, un der the leadership of Col. George T. Canti, State Inspector of Rifle Prac tice, to hold an encampment of the state at Savaunah in May or June. The encampment, it the scheme goes through, will last for a week, and the troops will have thejiplendid advan tages in rifle practice, offered by the Avondale rifle range. In case the 4th regiment decides to have an independent encampment, there will be a lively rivalry between the cbthpanies of the organization for the honer of playing the part of host. Several citi?s where compan ies of the regiment are stationed have already expressed a desire for the eneampmenl, and there will be some lively wife pulling if- the Fourth decides to ‘go it alone.’ ” At the last encampment and for some time thereafter a great deal was said favorable to the selection of Bainbridge as the point for the next encampment, and we see ne reason why it should not be. Our boys are anxious to entertain the regiment and we are not lacking in any accomodation that would add to the pleasure of the same. Suppose that we keep oiir weather eye on the movement of other places and in the event the regiment, “goes it alone,”, as the Herald suggests, we might stand an excellent show of bringing the visitors .to our* town. SUPERIOR COURT. The adjourned term of Decatur Superior Court, as per announcement, convened Monday mormrtg, Judge Spence presiding. The first three days of the session were consumed on the civil docket. The tp-iniiu&l docket was taken up Thursday morn ing but owing to the indisposition of Judge Spence no business of lmpor- ance was transacted. The cases of Norman, Thomas, Clarke and others, charged with forging land deeds, went out nomi nally on a nol prossed, owing to a defect in the bills of indictment. , The court took a recess till the next regular term in May. Baggs <fc Spence, of Valdosta, Gu., had secured the office of the late Dr. W. W. Palmer, and would auccced to his practice. We have this to say : Dr. Palmei left a strictly up-to-date Dental office, and did a large and lucrative prac tice. We control a-lease dn his fine brick office—built for him according to the latest ^requirements—and as soon as an inventory can be taken and certain legal requirements can be complied with, wo will sell for the benefit of his witd and baby, all ma terial and furnishings ot his office, transfer lease to purchaser.
