improved in health.
Miss Mamie Goff left Tuesday for
Tuskegee, Ala., where she will at*
teud school the ensuing year at'the
Alabama Conference College.
R. B. Price who has been for

mingham, Ala.
Miss Yarina Russell entertained

Taesday was the Jewish New

We regret to note the continued
illness of Mr. J. M. Laing who has
been quite sick for some time and
though convalescent it will probably
be a month before he will be able to
return to his business duties.
W. R. Starr has sold out his in*
terest in the Georgia-Alabama Lum
ber Company, with which firm he
has been connected for several
months and left Monday for his
home in Savannah where he intends
to reside in future. Messrs. E. L.
Wayne and W. O. Fleming secured
Mr. Starr’s interest and will continue
lb carry on the business under the
same name, Georgia-Alabama Lum
ber Company.
Quite a party consisting of Col.
and Mrs. Jno. E. Donalson, Mr. and
Mrs. A. H. Russell, Capt. Ben E.
Russell, Mrs. A. Graves left Tuesday
on the Queen City, to make the
round trip to Apalachicola returning
Saturday.
Miss Lois Russell who has been
spending the summer with Mrs. Don
Boozer, leaves in a few days for
Lake Park, where sbo has accepted

We arc requested to state that the
Wainman Hotel is in possession of a
new hose. Doubtless the inhabi
tants of the Hotel and also those ac-

mation.
The military companies from Ap
alachicola aDd Tallahassee, returning

last week on account of the recent
washouts on the-railroads.
A representative of the Southern
Tariff Association will arrive in a
few days for the purpose of re-rat-
mg the town. The suggestion is
offered that the people get their
premises in fine order, else it may be
the cause of the rate being raised
J. S. Shingler, of Ashbui n, Ga.,
was in town this week preparing for
improving his property here. He
will at once begin putting in three
handsome glass front stores in the
Wright building occupied by the

A number of the young ladies of
the city met on Monday afternoon
for the purpose of forming a basket
ball team. As there was not as full
an attendance as was desired the
club was not thoroughly organized;
however the members were selected
and the ball ordered and at the next
meeting the captains will be elect*
ed and the team will begin practice
immediately. The idea is a good
one and will prove beneficial as well
as amusing to the young ladies.

mantic spots he has ever seen, while
there on last Sunday he fell into a
trance and remained in a hypnotic
state for gome hours, in fact we see
effects of it yet.
