The many friends of Dr. J. D.
Chason, were delighted to see him

The Bazaar given by the ladies of
the Presbyterian Church opened
Wednesday and will continue
through this evening. Every one is
cordially invited to attend and en
joy “A Trip Around the World.”

ing by the bevy of pretty girls in
charge. It is a fine opportunity to

Rev. Sam Ely, who lives near Brin
son, bears off the rag for killing the
finest buck that has been captured in
the county for some time. Mr. Ely
tendered us an invitation to eat ven
ison with him, but circumstances
did not permit. The capture was
made one day last week about two
and one-half miles Bouthwest of
Brinson. We understand that there
are a number of deer in that vicinity
this season.
Col. Bob Terrell, of Whigha'in,
was in the city this week look
ing after important matters be
fore the city oourt of Bainbridge.
Col. Terrell has been prominently
mentioned in connection with the
coming race for the Judgeship of
that court. Should his friends suc
ceed in persuading him to enter the
race, he will no doubt receive a large
vote over the county. He has
been closely connected with the de-
velopement of Whigham for many
years, and was for a season mayor
of that tbnying town.
Services at the Presbyterian
ohurch next Sunday as follows: Sab
bath school at ten o’clock; morning
service at 11, subject—“Calvinism
and Cheerfulness.” Night servioe at
7:15 p. m., subject—“When Prayers
are Not Answered.” Superintend
ent Bradwell has appointed a com
mittee of five ladies and two gentle-
ment to arrange for Christmas exer
cises for the Sabbath school. The
public is cordially invited to all serv
ices.
On last Thnrsday afternoon the
Misses Nussbaum entertained in
compliment to Mrs. Max E. Nuss-
baum. The palatial homo artistic
ally decorated in masses of palms
and out flowers, was darkened and
with the brilliant glow from myriads
of electric lights to preserve the illu
sion, mid-afternoon was conve ted
into evening. Miss Macdonald of
Vienna, their oharming guest, as
sisted the hostess in receiving while
tne punch bowl was rendered doubly
delightful by the gracious pi esence
of Miss Birdie Lusky. About one
hundred guests were present and the
array of beautiful and handsomely
gowned women presented a scene
both interesting and attractive.
Mrs. I D. Morgan entertained the
attendants of the Graham-Fleming
wedding and a fqw intimate friends
at a delightful chafing dish party
Monday evening. The guests were
allowed a band in the preparation of
the supper and the result of their
efforts would do oredit to the culi
nary department of the most famous
schools. There were various games
indulged in with such genuine pleas
ure that the spirit of youth pre
dominated, in that the wrinkles (if
ever there were any) were smoothed
from the brows of the elders. With
many a merry jest and brilliant
stroke of repartee the evemug was
carried to a close ere the guests
could realize. Mrs. Morgan proved
so charming a hostess that a note of
sadness that the evening was oyer
emphasized each goodbye.
