The announcement of Col. A.
E. Thornton as a candidate for
solicitor of the city court appears
elsewhere in this issue of the
Post-Search Light. Mr. Thornton
is a prominent member of the
local bar and has friends galore
who recognizing his legal ability
will back him at the pells in
March.
Mr. Thornton has been a mem
ber of the local bar for over 12
years and during this time has
demonstrated his knowledge of
the law.
If elected Col. Thornton pro
poses to file the accusation
against parties with the cierk as
soon as they are made that the
defendant may become acquaint
ed with the charge and prepare
a defense. He also proposes to
use all possible dispatch in hand
ling cases so as to eliminate long
wait in jail by parties unable to
give bond.

the office my whole time and attention

days as the law requires, and keep the
books and accounts of the office open
to public inspection. I shall use com
petent and capable teachers from our
own county in our schools in prefer-
ence to outsiders, and shall endeavor
to pay off the teachers promptly each
month. It is proper for the public to
know the experience, training and
qualifications of those offering for pub
lic office. 1 attended the University
of Georgia four years and took an A.
B. Degree. In addition to this I took
special work in educational methods,
school management and teaching.
During the school years of 191441 and
190&4> I taught in the Bainbridge Pub
lic School, and spent two summers at
the Teachers Bummer Normal. Re
sides this I served four years on the
Board of Education in direct contact
with the county common school sys
tem. I am fully qualified for the po
sition, and feel that my close race in
1912 for this position entitles me to
