Constipation the Father of Many Ills.
Of the numerous ills that affect
humanity a large share start
with constipation. Keep your
bowls regular and they may
be avoided. When a laxative is
needed take Chamberlain’s Tab
lets. They not only move the
bowles but improve the appetite
and strenghten the digestion.
Obtainable everywhere.
Some one in the United States
has blundered. They have di
rected that negro officers from
Illinois regiments shall sit as
members of a court martial to
try white Southern soldiers for
alleged infractions of army rules.
The Democrates who are in
authority in Washington must
see that no such thing as this
is done. If it is attempted to the
attempted to the point of order
ing the white soldiers to trial
there will be a lot of trouble. It
will quickly transplant the seri
ousness of the border situation
to this side of the Rio Grade.
San Antonio, where these black
and white courts are to set, is
much worked up over the situ
ation. The town has a right to
be. All of Texas seems to be
interested, toe. We quote the
Houston Post:
“Somebody ought to have had
more sense than to assemble a
court composed partially of
colored officers to try white
soldiers, because the white men
are unnecessarily offended and
the colored officers are subject
to criticism and unpleasantness
which very likely they would
rather have escaped.”
It was the wrong thing to
have done to send the negro
soilders to the border, anyway
where they are thrown in such
close proximity to the white
troops. But to order white sol
diers to appear before negro
officers for trial in Texas! The
man or men who did it touched
off a firebrand.
In Illinois, where these colored
soldiers live, the conditions are
not similar to those in San An
tonio. Negroes patronize the
same cars, restaurants refresh
ment counters and places of
amusement that the whites pat
ronize. It is different in San
Antonio, and the negro soldiers
have been frequently angered
service was refused them and
the San Antonio people have
likewise beeen provoked by
having patronage thrust at them
which they did not desire.
All this friction might have
been avoided if the war depart
ment had used tact enough to
keep the colored troops at home
and not place them in a posi
tion where they were sure to
offend and be offended.
Catarrh Cannot Be Cured
WitS LOCAL APPLICATIONS, as they
cannot reach the seat of the disease.
Catarrh is a local disease, greatly in
fluenced by constitutional conditions, and
in order to cure it you must take an
internal remedy. Hall’s Catarrh Medi
cine is taken internally and acts thru
the blood on the mucous surfaces of the
system. Hall’s Catarrh Medicine was
prescribed by one of the best physicians
in this country for years. It is com
posed of some of the best tonics known,
combined with some of the best blood
purifiers. The perfect combination of
the ingredients in Hall’s Catarrh Medi
cine is what produces such wonderful
results in catarrhal* conditions. Send for
testimonials, free.

‘‘Fellow dropped into the
office the other day and ordered
the paper, and we are pleased,”
writes a brother editor. ‘‘Said
it was a good paper and we
were glad. Said it was more
than worth the money to any
man of intelligence and we were
tickled. Said it was the main
stay of the town and he were
supertickled. Said it was the
greatest booster and the most
reliable town builder and de
veloper in this who community,
and we yelled with much joy.
Paid for his paper, and—we slid
gently to the floor in blissful un
consciousness. Nature had reach
ed its limit.”
