If the vote tomorrow were to be cast
for most popular roofing, instead of
, for the election of national officials, there would\
■ be an overwhelming plurality in favor of)
- CERTAIN-TEED Roofing.
i This is indicated by the fact that “The General’* makes'
Vs of all the asphalt roll roofing made in America. The 1
balance is “scattered” among 39 other manufacturers.!
Each year CF t RTAIN-TEED rplls up a strikingly in
creasing number of advocates, because this type of roof is
coming to be recognized as the most efficient edvering
for all kinds of buildings, with either fiat or pitched roofsv

Certain-teed
——
Roofing
is clean and sanitary, costs less to buy, less to lay, less to maintain and
less per year of life. It is guaranteed for 5,10 or 15 years, according
to ply (1, 2 or 3). It actually lasts longer.
The secret of this long life lies in the quality of the roofing felt, and the
asphalt saturation. Roofings do not wear out—their life depends upon
the length of time they retain the saturation. CERTAIN-TEED is
made of the best quality of roofing felt; and is thoroughly saturated
■with the General’s own blend of soft asphalts, which keeps the inner
saturation soft and prevents the drying-out process so destructive to
tile ordinary roofing.
CERTAIN-TEED is made in rolls; also in slate-surfaced shingle*.'
‘There is s type of CERTAIN-TEED for every kind of building,
,with flat or pitched roofs from the largest sky-scraper to the smallest
residence or out-building.
CERTAIN-TEED is sold by responsible dealers all over the world,
st reasonable prices. Investigate it before you decide on any type
of roof, f .. ~Z_

on the head by a beam from the
ceiling and loses his memory.
When Ravengar (takes leontine
to her home and they find j
Sebastian there, Leontine scorns j
her husband tor his actions at :
the fire. Muriel, the dancer, |
who has been asked in a note;
written before her very eyes by i
a mysterious hand, is saved from j
the Are and is wondering how
she will get the additional money
required to save her brother
from prison when the pencil on
the desk begins to write as be
gins to write as before. This
time the note says, “You have
tried your best. Better luck next
time! Herewith the money you
need!” and a roll of bills is plac
ed upon the desk.
Leontine after Ravengar lea
ves, goes to her room and
Sebastian follows and pleads
with her, forgetful of his com
pact to treat her as a wife in
name only he takes her in his
arms and kisses her. She re- 1
pulses him and by strategy gets j
hrm out of the room. She locks j
the door and angered by this, hel
starts to batter it down with a |
heavy chair. As the door is about
to give way Sebastian is amazed'
to see at the height of a man’s j
head, two burning eyes and close
beneath them two white hands,
one ot which clutches a dagger.
Frightened at this he backs away
and rushes off. Leontine, sur
prised, slowly opens the door and
sees the hall empty. She looks
down at her feet and sees the
dagger. She lifts it wondering,
•.taming the weapon.
