Putnam County Sheriff Howard Sills said 24-year-old Trampus “T.J.” Shelnutt was working at Oconee Sand and Gravel. For unknown reasons, Shelnutt walked in the path of a moving Caterpillar 930M Wheel Loader with a front bucket attachment and was run over by the vehicle. “It was clearly an accident,” Sills said. “He unfortunately walked in front of it. There was video there at the facility that showed it was clearly a horrible accident.” Putnam County Emergency Services and Fire Department personnel arrived at the business on Harmony Road six minutes later and took Shelnutt to Putnam General Hospital where he was pronounced dead by the Emergency Department physician, according to Sills. —Lynn Hobbs MURDER CONTINUED FROM » A1 In a hearing Friday, April 25, Goddard offered a negotiated plea of guilty for malice murder in exchange for all the other charges being dropped by the district attorney’s office.
