» Your hometown newspaper since 1861 The Eatonton Alessenger THURSDAY, MAY 15, 2025 | C3 Kina’s celebrates first anniversary with ribbon cutting ,a IAN TOCHER/Staff The Eatonton-Putnam Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon-cutting ceremony with Kina Little of Kina's Krazy Kreations doing the honors last Wednesday in front of nearly 30 friends, employees, and well-wishers. The ribbon cutting came as a celebration of Kina's first year in business at 102 N. Jefferson Ave. in Eatonton, where her restaurant specializes in stuffed potatoes, chicken wings, burgers, and seafood, with music on Thursday nights. PCCSS proud of statewide young author winners The Putnam County Charter School System (PCCSS) said it was "thrilled" to announce that eight of its talented Putnam County writers were recognized as region winners in the statewide Regional Education Service Agencies' (RESA) Young Georgia Authors 2025 contest, with two Putnam students named state title winners. This marks the first year PCCSS has had a state winner, and it was the only school system statewide to have multiple state winners this year. The PCCSS state winners are first grader Isla Prince and PCHS senior Kelsey Bowers. LOPC’S 2025 DR. On Sunday, April 27th, 2025, the Dr. Ellen Cauthen Utley Scholarship Committee at Lake Oconee Presbyterian Church held their Scholarship Recognition Sunday to honor nine seniors from Greene and Putnam Counties as their 2025 scholarship recipients. Committee members are Leslie Clark, Valerie Hunt, Carol Johansen, Steve Larson, Mark Stott, and Rush Utley. Since 2016, LOPC has awarded scholarships to 51 high school seniors to help them achieve their dream of attending a 2 or 4 year college. LOPC awarded scholarships to the following 9 seniors: Lainee Carter is the daughter of Krista Pickren. She is a senior at Lake Oconee Academy and plans to attend Georgia College and State University in the fall and major in early childhood education and minor in kinesiology. Lola Davis is the daughter of Keith and Callie Davis. She is a senior at Gatewood School and plans to attend Augusta Technical College in the fall to complete the 2-year program to become a diagnostic medical sonographer. J T Gregory is the son of Jay and Cindy Gregory. He is a senior at Gatewood School and plans to attend Georgia Southern University in the fall and major in construction management. LO Lake Oconee Presbyterian Church PC Sarah Kate Mansfield is the daughter of Jeff Mansfield. She is a senior at Gatewood School and plans to attend Gwinnett Technical College in the fall to complete the 2-year program to become a diagnostic medical sonographer. Jewell Morrison is the daughter of John and Karen Morrison. She is a senior at Lake Oconee Academy and plans to attend Georgia Institute of Technology in the fall and major in computer science. Riley Payne is the daughter of Chad and Amy Payne. She is a senior at Lake Oconee Academy and plans to attend Georgia College and State University in the fall and major in mass communication with a minor in marketing. Charlie Randolph is the son of Philip Randolph and Kathy Randolph. He is a senior at Gatewood School and plans to attend the University of Georgia in the fall and major in civil engineering. Faith Wilson is the daughter of Torico and Nikia Wilson. She is a senior at Greene County High School and plans to attend Kennesaw State University in the fall to double major in nursing and psychology. Ty Young is the son of Kenneth Young and the late Tracy Young. He is a senior at Putnam County Hugh School and plans to attend Georgia College and State University in the fall to major in nursing.
