Rusk receives ACCG recognition Putnam County resident Melissia Rusk recently was recognized at the Associa tion [of] County Commis sioners of Georgia (ACCG) conference in Savannah for completing Lifelong Learning Academy core certification as a Georgia county official. County officials are encouraged to take courses through the ACCG Lifelong Learning Academy and those who complete the core certifi cation are recognized as Certified County Officials. ACCG Lifelong Learning Academy core certification includes nine courses covering 66 hours of required courses: County Government 101, County Government Finance, County Govern ment Law, Economic Development, Ethics, Human Resources, Lead ership Institute, Property Appraisal and Taxation, and Public Health and Safety. Rusk currently serves as human resources director for the Walton County Board of Commissioners and is responsible for managing an approximate $900,000 departmental budget while directing human resources oper ations county-wide for nearly a thousand employees. Rusk was born and raised in Putnam County.
