Jim Barbee thought he was responding to a routine complaint call to remove a tres passer. But upon his arrival, instead of a trespasser, he found a loaded handgun pointed at him. And the gun wasn’t in the hands of a trespasser, it was the complainant. Barbee said the call was made by a resident on the 100 block of Bradley Road who said he wasn’t home at the time, but his girlfriend called him and said she could smell cigarette smoke and heard people on their property and told him to call police. As he drove along the Amber N. McDade property looking for the trespassers, but didn’t see anyone. When Barbee got to the house, he got out of his patrol vehicle and still didn’t see anyone. As he walked toward the front porch, someone yelled at him. driveway toward the house, Barbee said he scanned the “Somebody hollered out, ‘Hold it, stop right there and put up your hands,”’ Barbee described to The Eatonton Messenger reporter. “I looked at all the windows and doorway and still didn’t see anybody,” he continued. “And then I looked up and saw a head poked over the peak of the roof and she had a pistol pointed at me.” Barbee identified himself as a Putnam County Sheriffs Office deputy and told the woman, later identified as Amber McDade, that he was there for a trespass complaint and she needed to put down the gun. McDade did not put down the Kimber 9mm pistol she was pointing at him, and continued to ask him who he was and why he was there. According to Putnam County jail reports, Corey Andrew Hickey, 38, of the Twin Bridges Road area, is in Putnam County jail facing felony charges including two counts of “create or possess with intent to distribute or sell visual medium depicting a minor in sexu ally explicit act,” and one count of “employ/use a minor to engage in/ assist person in sexually explicit conduct for visual medium.” Bond was set at $60,000, but Hickey remained jailed at the newspaper’s press time Tuesday. The Georgia Bureau of Inves tigation’s “Child Exploitation and Computer Crimes (CEACC) Unit began an investigation into Hick ey’s online activity after receiving a Cyber Tipline Report from the MORE HICKEY » A3 Sheriff’s office investigates rocks thrown at vehicles Lynn Hobbs Iynn@msgrnews.com Putnam County Sheriffs Office detectives are inves tigating several incidents of vehicles damaged by rocks thrown and a log left in the lane of traffic. Five different vehicles were damaged while traveling Monticello Road between 10 and 10:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, according to PCSO Chief of Staff Russell Blenk. Four of the incidents involved rocks being thrown from the side of the road under the cover of darkness. He concedes they have a good football team but should have kept their coach, Billy Napier. Game should be played home and home. No matter, Georgia Dawgs win another cliff- hanger 24-20.
