Nixon’s comment as he pass ed the signs: “I see we have some people here with differ ing opinions.” Neg’-o woman in crowd: “He was good. On the race problem he did what most of us expect ed him to do as a speaker in Georgia — his reference was general.” White woman in crowd: “I’m going to vote for Nixon because we don’t want socialism to take over the country.” In plain view of the crowd in Hurt Park, a police wrecker towed away a car parked on Courtland Street bearing the legend: “Jack Dorsey for Ai derman,” despite the tardy ef forts of the driver to rescue his vehicle. A special committee was appointed at the Friday night meeting consisting of Jes se Hill, Chairman, John Cal houn, W. H. Aiken and James Garner. In special interviews with Inquirer reporters, Miss Flint, George Hill and Lynch recount ed a story of mounting violence and abuse which began in the early morning hours of August 12 when, according to Miss Flint, the car in which she was returning home with a married couple was blocked by a squad car. Carmel Baptist Church will be celebrating their 27th Anniversary on Sunday, August 28, 1960 at 3:00 P.M the driver of being drunk. The charge was denied and when Miss Flint, remarked, “You can’t even go to a party any more,” the policemen told her to get out of the car, ordered the couple to drive away, and began to curse, strike and choke her. Miss Flint stated that she managed to break free, run into and through her apart ment, and emerge to hail a cab, from which she was forci bly removed by the policemen. While in pursuit of Miss Flint, the policemen, according to George Hill and Lynch, kick i ed in the door of the Neal Place apartment which Miss Flint shares with Mrs. Betty Foster. The two men, who were visit ing Mrs. Foster at the time, re ported that they were then assailed by the policemen, who beat them with their fists and a flashlight, injuring Hill so badly that he had to be carried down to a police car. In ad dition to a police wagon, ac cording to witnesses, four or five other car-loads of police men were dispatched to the j scene. It was following similar ac •l counts of the incidents by the ; principals and several witnes i ses in Police Court that Judge I Arnold dismissed the charges against Miss Flint, Hill and Lynch and lectured the arrest- I ing officers.
