TO MISS MITT J.C.
1 once believed that I eonld dwell
Where music flowed from lipa like thine,
And only love its mystic
Which seemed as harmless as divine.
J thought that I could bask awhile
Heuealh the light of azure eyes,
And only love their glowing mile
As happy larks love morning skies.
But »ow I feel "tie thee I love
With passion of celestial birth,
As pure as that which glows above
Yet warm as ever burned ou earth.

Kiss not those lips so meek"
UaraiUeU let the fair locks curl
Upon the maidens cheek!
Believe her quite a saint—
Her looks are all divine,
Her rosy hue is paint,
Her form is crinoline.

EPITAPH ON A PRINTER
Herr lies a form— place no imposing done
T. markthe head, where wears , it n» lain ;
’Till matter dead ! his mission all being duLe,
To be distributed to dust again.
The Wy is but the type, at best, of man.
Whose imprest is the spirit's deathless page ;
Warn out, the type is thrown to pi again,
The impression lives through an eternal age.
The perpetrator of the following is said to
be Mat'd*' enßConed in the Toombs, there to be
punished tor the horrid crime :
Wiicjo lovely w/wntui shows her bosom,
O>r dresses fashionably low,
What man of passion could refuse 'em
The homage of a look or so /
And when our ardent gaze returning.
They scarce repress voluptuous sighs
Is it strange our finger ends are burning
To press—our hats down over our eyes.

SPECIAL NOTICE.
We ask particular attention to our schemes draw i,
on the Havana Plan only on the Ist and 1 thus every
munth and axk a comparison uitL auy otlier Lotted
in existence. Tlie plan is so simple that every one
I can understand it and it has fewer numbers than any
other Lottery, and therefore, the chances to draw ,
Prizes are hotter. For instance: Ihere is in uur
Lottery only Number*, and ail others on the
same plan range from 4<»,'hh' to s<»,lmiu Numbers.—
Those Lotteries on the combination plan never have
less than 75,00 u Numbers mid Prizes are subject to a
deduction of 15 per cent., while in our Lottery there
is no deduction ou Prizes.
Plan of the Lottery and manner of Drawing.
Slips of Paper of exactly the same size and printed
with numbers from 1 to 15,0 W which correspond
with those on the Tickets are inserted in Tin Tubes
and deposited in the Number Wheel. Similar slips ]
on which are printed the amounts of the dillurent j
Prizes are also inserted in Tin Tubes and de- .
posited in the Prize Wheel When the drawing ;
takes place, which is alwavs in public,) the Num- i
her Wheel is revolved and a number drawn from it; |
at the same time the Prize Wheel (Containing the j
Prizes from #’><• to f3O.VOOj is alsu revolved and a
Prize drawn from it. The Numbers are recorded i
and the Prize drawn with each Number is credited tu ’
that Number. This <q»erAtion is - continued until the j
Prizes are all drawn u*iC, after winch the Numbers |
drawn and the Prizes are called over by the Conunis- i
sioncrs. and are certified to by them, ami a copy ut
the drawing is senl to each person holding one or
more Tickets. The 75uv Prizes of A ,; mentioned iu
the Scheme, are determined oy the last figure of the i
Number that draws the Capital Prize. For instan w, .
way the Capital Pri/eis drawn to number 865,a1l those i

We are thus particular to demonstrate to those
who desire to try their luck, that our Lotteries are
better channels of investment than any other Littery
and far better than cotton specuiatiun. Purchasers
can have Tickets ending with auy Nundier they may
