are both good smiths and deserve
patronage where ever they may

—As the people have never

state right here that one of the
successful candidates came from
Tennessee.
—Book Martin made a good
race and though he was defeated
nothing can be said, so far as we
know against the manner in which
his race was conducted.
—Elections are now receiving
the attention of the citizens. One
for courny officers last Wednesday
and tho /ustices of the Peace and
bailiffs vill be elected to-morrow.

Mrs. J. W. Brown has moved to
the Parker place.
Stanback has come back and
says he will not go back.
The aspirants for the office of
constable are numerous.
/. R. /ackson has written for his
family to meet him in Alabama.

the Macon Telegraph was in town
this week.
The vault doors in the offices of
the Ordinary and Clerk are in posi
tion and much admired.
The County Commissk ners met
Tuesday and rejected some of the
work on the Court House. *
Bob Beadles speaks of going to
Atlanta soon. Bob is good bus
iness young man and will do well
in Atlanta.
W. H. Persons the popukr and
efficient Ordinary of Coweta, was
mingling with friends in this coun
ty last week.
Henry county has its charms for
some of our boys. Messrs Lester,
stanback. Stell and Beadles think
cf locating there.
Dr. W. S. Russell will rfiave to
town soon and resume the prac
tice of his fiofession at this place.
The Dr. is a splendid gentleman
and will make a good citizen.
A. E. Stokes retains his cffice as
Clerk of the Supciior Court, and
enters upon his 24th consecnlive
year. Is there a county in the
State that can boast of a more
popular clerk than Fayette?
Mr. Mathew S. Reade of Brook
Hn, N. Y., was in !o\vn this week,
looking after the enterest of the
estate of his uncle, Mathew Reade
who died in this cou ity on the 15
of December. Mr. Reade b : ds us

Assembly at its recent session
passed an act providing for a new

have long needed a city govern
ment, and as we now have the
opportunity to provide laws and
have them enforced, dont shirk
