Our Governor.
Aceordtng to an Atlanta dis
patch Gov. Gordon of Georgia has
decided to become a stock farmer,
end will probably retire from pol
itics altogether, He has bonght
a river Plantation 1,700 acres
In Taylor eounty, to which he is
adding otb*r lands. HU purpose
is to make it the most complete
stock farm in the South. He has
agente out purchasing brood mares
and fine strains of cattle, sheep
and swine. Of late years Gov,
Gordon,s close confinement to
office work has caused him much
sickness* Gov. Gordons retire
ment would leave a void la Geor
gia politics.
From the Albany News,
Gov. Gordon is said to have
bought a river plantation in Tayy
lor connty , to which he will retire
from the glare of politics to the
qniet of its mral shades. It U
well for the man whom the peo
ple have loved to honor, and who
has given his best years to the
service of his country, hut in his
yeti racy the state will loose the
benefits of his wise couusel and
honest purposes. Gov. Gordon
i» not a rich man, for his talents
have been used in the public ser
vice at a pittance fora salary, and
he has been- unable to devote his
attention to the pursuits of bus
iness, in which he might have ac
cumulated a fortune- One occu
pying the prominent public offices
that Govenor Gordon has graced
for more than twenty-five years
finds need of a large part of the
petty sum paid by the people to
sustain the dignity of ths office.
ft is no surpaise that such bub-
iic servants glow poor as they
grow gray in service. Repudlics
are ungrateful when compared to
the geuerons attention of the cou
ititntional monarchy of England
to the wants of those who tender
. .U; ringuish>*d service. If Gen.
(; cut retire to pastures
glee.t, lit will carry with him the
love *ud respect of his leliow citi
zens, if not riches.

Cancer. .
I am satisfied that Cancer is
hereditary in my family. My fa*,
ther died of it, a sister of my mo
ther died of it, and my own sis
ter died of it. My feelings may be
imagined, then when the horrible
disease made its appearence on my
side. It was a malignant Cancer,
eating inwardly in such a way
that it could not be cut cut. Num
erous other remedies were used
for it, but the cancer grew steadily
worse, until it seemed I was
doomed to follow the others of
the family. I took Swift's Spec
ific, which, from the first day,
forced out the poison, and con
tinued its use until I had taken
several bottles, when I found my-*
self well. . I know that S. S. S.
cured me. Mrs. S, M. Idol.

His Kigkt Ear.
I had a rising on the inside of
my head behind my right ear,
which grew sob*d that the flesh
sloughed off: It was lanced—
swelled again and was lanced the
second time. I took S. S. S.
which drove out the poison, the
discharge being copious. As
soon as the poison was elimenated
the sore began healing] and in a
short time it was perfectly well..
S. S. S. has cured me of this dan
gerous trouble which was thought
to be incurable.

Slow action and uncertain effect nave always
