It seems that we are in the grip of another cold spell of weather. Our hearts have been made sad on account of the news of the death of Mrs. Hester White. She was the wife of Mr. Will White, formerly of our community, but. now of near Tyrone. They lived here several years after their marriage and she won the friend ship of all her neighbors here. We extendi our sympathp to the bereaved / husband and two little children. Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Ellington visited relatives at Riverdale last Monday. Mrs. Annie Ruth Head is much to- proved of her recent illness. Mr. and Mrs. Z. P. Ellington spent two days last week in Atlanta. Miss Kate Jackson spent the week end with relatives at Baptist Rest. Little Mary Lou Elder and Bill El lington are both just recovering from an illness of flu. Mr. Lon Turner received news last week of the death of his brother in Alabama. We wish to extend him our sympathy. Mr. and Mrs. Cleve Landrum, of At lanta, spent the week-end as the guests of the latter’s parents, Mr. and, Mrs. T. J. Walker. Mr. Dewey Parker, of East Point, spent last week with his mother, Mrs. Lee Parker. Mr. J. B. Walker and family spent last Saturday night with Mr. and Mrs. Arch Smith at College Park and was present at the marriage of Mrs. Wal ker’s sister, Miss Stella Smith, to Mr. . Robert Ellington, of near Fife, on Sun day. Miss Smith has visited in our community a number of times and won many friends here, who will wish for her much happiness through life. Mr. John Walker, of Bethany, spent a few day3 recently with his daugh ter, Mrs. Jessie Harper. ~\ Mrs. Oma Elder visited Mrs. Min- Wnie Ellington last Friday. Mr. and Mrs. George Morgan visited the latter’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. M L. McEachern, at New Hope last Sun- dap. Glenn Harper, of Fife, spent Satur day night and Sunday with Claudi and Gilbert Harper. Judge J. J. Davis has received his check for pensions and is busy dis bursing the individual checks this week. WANTED-RED BLOODED MEN Messrs. W. T. Wilson and Charles Westmoreland of Hampton were here Wednesday. Mrs. J. D. Mash of Brooks visited relatives here Tuesday. Rev. C. A. Adams of Fairburn was here a short while Tuesday. Mr. R. E. Farr of Stop was looking after business matters here Wednes day. A good cow with young calf/or sale. Lewis Jones, Fayetteville No. 3. Mrs. E. B. Harrell visited her son, Mr. W. R. Harrell, in Grfifin, this week. Miss Edna Mitchell df the A. and M. School at Barnesville spent the week end with homefolks. Mr. Allison Jones of Clayton county was here this week. Rev. John W. Ham has just closed a ten-day meeting at the Baptist church. The preaching was good and those attending were graciously re vived and we feel sure results will follow. It was one of the best meet ings ever held in our town at the time of year. He appeared in his usual health until stricken. Mr. Brown was reared in the county and was honored as one of the county of- cials several times. He lived here for many years and his death brought a gloom of sadness to his many good friends. Mr. D. H. Holt died of pneumonia at his home in Campbell county last Fri day and the remains were brought here for burial Saturday. Mr. Holt had lived near here all of his life and was well known throughout the coun ty. He is survived by a wife, two daughters and five sobs.
