Miss Sarah Selman of Douglasville is the guest of Miss Carcn Lester. Miss Mary Thompson of Columbus is the guest of relatives here. Brooks. Miss Bessie Polhild of Hawkinsville is the guest of Miss Caron Lester this week. The Georgia Press association will convene at Carrollton on the 19th for its annual meeting. The people and press of the town are making prepar ations to give the press members a good time. The second division of the county Sunday School association held its quarterly meeting at Bethany Satur day. Miss Davis of the State Depart ment was present and assisted in the meeting. The people of Bthany al ways make the visitors have a good' time. Saturday, July 24, is the day to elect school trustees throughout the county. Those interested should see that this is done and save time for the authorities as well as the county. Mr. Alton Adams of Hapeville was in our city a short while Monday. Mr. Adams was reared in the county and has many friends who are always glad to have his visits. Rev. G. P. Gary and Messrs. W. B. Hollingsworth and W. W. McEachern are attending the district conference at Mt. Carmel. Mrs. Pauline Adams of Cuthbert is the guest of her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Dorsett. The County Sunday School associa tion will hold a one day convention at Lisbon church on July 28th. All peo ple interested in Sabbath school work are not only invited, but urg#d to at tend. Since the nomination of Cox and J. B. Ogletree, the seven year old son of Thomas Ogletree was kicked cn tl.n head by a mule on the fourth of July. He was rushed to the hospital in Griffin, where a portion of the frac tured skull was removed. They have brought him home from the hospital and is said to be doing nicely. We hope he may soon recover. This section was visited by rains Saturday, which were very beneficial to all growing crops. There are some fine fields of up land corn in this section, but not enough planted. Cotton has improved very much re cently, but is badly Infested with the boll weevil and worm. It is thought to be the pink boll worm. The farm ers are going over their fields picking up the fallen squares. Them is quite a lot of hickness in this community at present. Several cases of fever. Rev. Lincolns of East Point filled his appointment at the Christian church Sunday to the edification of his hearers. They will protract their meeting the second Sunday in August. Protracted services will commence at the Methodist church the third Sunday in July, Rev. Conway of Griffin will assist in the services. J. H. Jcnes and C. E. Coppedge are attending the district conference at M!t. Carmel in Henry county, Wednes day and Thursday. Mr.' 1 and Mrs. H. C. Coppedge of East Point visited in Brooks recently. We are glad to note that Prynjus keeps up the East Side dots. The last time we saw him he was associating with the white-folks preacher, and boasting • of that ride through town with Jim. New Hope. Roosevelt by the Democrats, the Re publicans are trying to change their campaign managers in Georgia. At Chicago they place Lincoln Johnson, colored, at the head of the party in Georgia. They now see their mistake. They may change, but the people now know what they intend to do. The nice rain that fell Saturday af ternoon made the crops and gardens look much better. Rev. C. A. Adams filled his regular appointment at this place last Satur day and Sunday. ’,He delivered two very interesting sermons to a large crowd. We always hear something good when Brother Adams preaches. Mr. Sunny Burdette and family of neqr Union City attended divine serv ices at this place last Sunday, and also visited his father and mother, Rev. W. F. Burdette and wife. ,Mr. Wherry Johnston of Atlanta spent Saturday night and Sunday the guest of his sister, Mrs. Hubert Holt. Mrs. Fannie Spier of Fairburn is visiting her daughter, Mrs. Lizzie Wal lis. Mr. Abe Banks and family visited Mr. J. T. Holt and family last Sunday. Rev. C. A. Adams and family vis ited Mr. Carl Graves and family last Sunday. Rev. G. B. Walker of near Fairburn and Mr. J. T. Wallis and family of Fayetteville and Mr. J. C. Banks and family visite d Mr. Grady Freely and family last Sunday. Miss Estelle Barronton of near Jonesboro spent a few days last week the guest of her cousin, Miss Claris Smilh. Miss Nellie Mae Wallis visited Miss es Annie and Lily Francis Turner last Sunday. Mr. Curtis Wallis of Atlanta spent a few days last week with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Rubin Wallis. Mr. Jeff Berry and family visited Mr. Ivie White and family last Sun day. Mr. J. R, Jackson and family of near Cross Roads visited Mr. B. J. Banks and' family last Sunday. Mr. Daniel Banks and family, Mr. Jim Renfrow and family visited Mr. W. H. Banks and family last Sunday afternoon. Mr. J. C. Harris and family spent Sunday afternoon the guest of Mr. Luther Jackson and wife. Mr. Oscar Phillips and family spent Sunday the guest of Mr. Hue Phillips and family. Rev. W. F.
