Grier of Raymond, Ga„ preached 'an interesting sermon here at the Baptist church, both morning and evening Sunday. Mr. J. W. Roland and wife, auditor of the Southern railroad, have secured rooms at Mr. T. J. Mitchell’s and will make Fayetteville their future home. L. G. Perry and wife visited their sis ter, Miss Loray Perry, at Hampton on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Banyard Stinclicomb announce the arrival of a little girl at their home. I am in position to negotiate farm loans. LESTER C. DICKSON. HI SCHOOL NEWS. Our domestic science department has had the honor of two visitors, Mrs. L. C. Dickson and Mrs. W. S. Tur- nipseed, who came to observe the sew ing and cooking. Their comments up on the sewing were especialy favora ble. Mrs. O. J. Reeves also came to observe methods in the grammar de partment. There has been some rearrangement of class rooms. The tenth and elev enth grades w'ere compelled to move into the first grade room. The stove had fallen, window lights were out and large holes were in the walls ; these conditions made it impossible to remain in the room. We are now fair ly comfortably settled, hxit the first grade has had to sefk other quarters —a room in the Redwine building. NOTICE. In future we will gin only on Tuesdays and Fridays. Mr. Callie Brogdon died at liis home in Fife Sunday and the funeral and interment was held at Bethany Mon day. Mr. Brogdon was one of the oldest citizens of the county and had lived in the county most of his life. Mr. G. B. Walden and son. Ralph, of Jonesboro, were visitors to Fayette ville this week. It was necessary for the primary grade to move to the Redwine build ing this week because of the crowded condition of the school building. Two basket ball games have been played. The first w r as between the Oranges and the Greens—the victory went to the Oranges, the score being 10/0. The second game was between the Whites and the Maroons—the vic tory in this case going to the Whites, the score being 10/S. Jbssie have returned home after spending a while with relatives near Fairburn. Mr. and Mrs. J. G. Hightower and daughter, , Miss Janie, of Kenwood, spent Wednesday with B. G. Hightow er and family here. Miss Laren Lester spent the week end with relatives in Atlanta. Jack Scarbrough and wife of Jones boro spent Sunday with 0. E. Jack- son. Mr. P. K. Dixon, wife and sister, Miss Bertha, of Clayton county, vis ited here Tuesday. Mrs. Ida Harp and daughter, Miss | Mae, of Inman, were the guests of ,Mrs. O. E. North Monday.^ Mrs. Gladys Stanley has returned to her home in Atlanta after spend ing a few days with friends hero. Miss Laren Lester is attending the house party' of Miss Bern nett Stewart at Jonesboro this week. BROOKS. The election at Brooks precinct pass ed off very quietly Tuesday with a light vote being polled. There were frequent showers of rain during the' day. The cotton crop is nearly all gath ered and ginned. There has been a fine lot of sor ghum syihp made in this section thin fall. Farmers will sow more small grain this fall than usual. The attendance from this section to the various fairs this fall was not as large as , usual. The moving picture show is billed to strike our burg on the 8tli instant. Messrs, C. E. Coppedge, N. D. Huckaby J. H. JoneB and J. G. Posey attended the quarterly meeting at Hol- lonville Saturday. The circuit will pay out by conference. Rev. L. J. Johnson preached ah able sermoivon Missions to an appreciative congregation at the Methodist church Sunday at 11 a. m. The Brooks younger set enjoyed a hallowe’en party and refreshments, as the guests of Miss Catherine.Crawford Saturday night and report an enjoya ble occasion. Oyama Stephens of ^Emory spent Sunday and Monday with homefolks. There will be singing at Whitewater Church the first Sunday evening. All are invited. METHODIST CHURCH.
