Throughout the country leading hardware stores are being selected as “Winchester Stores.” This means that these stores will have exclusive agencies in their communities for the new products made by the Winchester Repeating Arms Company of New Ha ven, Conn., makers of the well known Winchester guns and ammunition. Fife Hardware Co. of this city has been appointed the Winchester Store in ths town. New Winchester products are being handled by this store, and from them we have secured some in teresting information about the devel opment of the Winchester undertaking, which has been .,the biggest event in the hardware trade for years. When the Winchester Repeating Arms Company laid out its careful ly laid plans for the production of Tiew lines of products, which it had been decided to manufacture to make ef ficient use of the 81-acre plant and ef fective organization .which had been built to handle the vast war business of the company, the underlying princi ple was adopted of selecting only such articles for manufacture as would be used for personal service. | It was felt that the name “Winches ter,” had become inseparably associa ted during more than half a century with an article of distinct personal relation, an article of direct personal service to the owner and one that has established a peculiar bond of per sonal affection with him.
