In Sweet Remembrance of Ma
gee Elder,
Who departed this life Dec 9, 1899.
He was 17 years old, joined the Baptist
church at Bcthabia, Ang. 1899. Well
de we remember that sweet experience
when he was baptizid in the water at
the bridge under the willow tree by
Jas. Williams. It is hard to realiz; that
he is gone from among us as ho was a
blessing to his mother and sisters. Just
in the prime of glorious manhood, he
1 away to join other loved ones
ii the heavenly laud and we are left
Wrnved and sad.
He was truthful and hopefnl and re
signed and we feel that the Father
doeth all things welL Several times
when he was sick, he said: “I am go
ing home” and the words are still ring
ing in our ears. How sad it is to think
we never will ag lin behold his loving
form or hear his loving voice in our
earthly home. Yet we hope to meet
. him around the throne of God when the
ini.t have rolled away behiud the sun
set and the night, in a laud cheered by
music and lit by the scriies of our Fath
er aud our God.
There is a spot remembered well in
Bethabra church yard. To that place
we love to go and sit by Magees grave.
Dear Gee, loved one, sleep on; some
day we know not how soon, some of us
Will be sleeping by your side. It is such
a sweet consolation tj know his life on
earth was ;ure aud that his soul is now
in the home of the redeemed.

WINDER, JACKSON COuNi i, GEORGIA, THURSDAY, MARCH 22 , 1900.
Obituary.
Last Sunday morning, the 18th,
about 4 o’clock, the death angel visited
the home of Mr. M. C. Burnett and
called for their loving daughter, Naucr,
who had bean ill for only teu days. She
had suffered untold ageuy daring those
few days, but bore it patiently. Sue
wuj young aud iii the bloom of youth.
But God in His wisiom saw fit to call
her home. Her age was thirteen years,
eight months aud nine days and she
professed a hope in Christ May 1898 and
joined the Methodist church at Pitts.
Her life was one of intelligauce aud
brightness. It seemed that she
always looked forward to the time when
she would meet her Savior. Naucy
leaves a father, mother, two brothers,
one sister and a host of friends to
mourn her loss. She had all the at
tention that could be given by loving
hands, and the clever physician did ail
(hat midical skill could to restore her.
She was laid to rest by the side of two
sisters iu the quiet little Pitts cemetery.
Before she passed away, she called her
loved oues to her bedside, kissed them
farewell aud told them she was ready
to go aud begged them to moot her in
heaven. It is peculiarly sad and touching
to write of the death of one so young, so
pare and promising, and while we weep
with those who weep and our heart
aches for those who loved her so devot
edly, we all have the sweet consolation
of knowing that her soul is now with
the redeemed above. From her loving
friend Walter,
MILLIONS GIVEN AWAY.
It is certainly gratifying to the pub
public to know of one concern in the
laud who are not afraid to be generous
to the needy and suffering. The nro
prietors of Dr. King’s New Discovery
tor consumption, coughs and cold, have
given away over ten million trial bot
tles of this great medioiue aud have the
satisfaction of knowing it has absolute
ly cured thousands of hopeless cases.
Asthma, Bronchitis, hoarseness, and all
diseases of the throat, chest and lungs
are surely cured by it. Call on Winder
Drug Cos. and get a trial bottle free, regu
lar size, 50c and sl. Guarantee 1 to
cure or price refunded.
Escaped From Jail.
Sir. Cicero Weir, who has been iu the
Jefferson jail since February court from
failure to make bond, escaped from jail
Tuesday night. He prizid one of the
large widow rocks around far enough
to squeeze through. The opening was
not large enough for the other prisoners
to get through, all of them being larger
mm than Weir.
It is very hard to stand idiy by and
see our dear ones suffer while awaiting
the arrival of the doctor. An Albany
(N. Y.) dairyman called at a drug store
th9ro for a doi tor to come and see his
child, then very sick with croup. Not
finding the doctor iu, lie loft word for
him to come at once on his return. He
also bought a bottle of Chamberlain’s
Cough Remedy, which he hoped would
give some relief until the doctor should
arrive. Iu a few hoars he returned,
saying the doctor need not come, as the
child was muca better. The druggist,
Mr. Otto Scholz, says the family has
since recommended Chamberlain’s
Cough Remedy to their neighbors and
friends until he has a constant demand
for <t from that part of the country.

We have saved many doctor bills
since we began usiDg Chamberlain’s
Cough Remedy in our home. We keep
a bottle open all the time and whenever
any of my family or myself began to
catch cold we begin to use the Cough
Remedy, and as a result we never have
to send awayforad octor and incur a
large doctor bill, for Chamberlain’s
Congh Remeby never fails to cure. It
is certainly a medicine of great merit j
and worth. —D. S. Mearkle, General
