J Mrs. W. H. Maxwell gave a most de
lightful six o'clock dinner last Wednes
day in honor of Misses Rowena Shedd
ariA Wilma Appleby, whose weddings
have been announced. A most enjoya
ble menu was served and the decora
rations were exceedingly attractive.
Misses Wilma Appleby and
Rowena Shedd Honored.
Misses Wilma Appleby and Rowena
Shedd shared honors at a delightful
party given by the organizations of the
Baptist church on Monday afternoon,
30. The occasion assembled a large
gathering tilling the church parlors,
which were thrown together and beau
tifully decorated with sweet peas and
held daisies, ferns and palms. A mu
sical program was arranged by Mrs.
Mac Potts. Mrs. W. M. Holsenbeck,
representing the church, spoke of the
deep appreciation of the work and in
terest in the church of these splendid
young 4adies, the deep regret that "they
•were to Shed their names and Settle
in other places,” and of the sincere love
and interest with which they leave us.
At the conclusion of these remarks,
handkerchief showers, from the Sun
beams and Junior B. Y. P. U. were pre
sented the honor guests, and as Mrs.
Potts rendered the wedding march lit
tle Miss Helen Williams and Robert
Maxwell came down the aisle bearing
the gifts from the Primary department
of the Sunday school, beautiful pieces of
silver. Following them came Miss
Marietta Faust and Arnold Holsen
beck, with gifts from the adult Sunday
school and Baracas, which were also
pieces of silver. Then came Miss Hil
da Faust and Morgan Holsenbeck with
gifts from Philathea3 and Aid Socie
ty, which were silver waiters on which
were beautiful casseroles. Both the
brides-elect expressed appreciation of
these remembrances. Refreshments
were served in the late afternoon.
Junior-Senior Reception.
A beautiful and unique reception last
Wednesday evening was the reception
given by the members of the Junior
class in compliment to the seniors at
the home of Miss. Runette Benton.
The porch and the entire lower floor
thrown together for the occasion, were
artistically decorated in the two class
colors, green and white, and gold and
white. The prettily appointed tables
in the dining-room had as a center
piece a silver basket filled with shasta
daisies, the handle of which was tied
with a bow of yellow tulle. It was
paced on a mirror upon a white eluny
lace cover over gold. From the chande
lier were draped gold and white stream
ers to the four corners of the table and
each was caught with a bow. Baskets
of daisies were placed throughout the
rooms. The punch bowl embedded in
ivy, daisies and asparagus was on the
front porch and graciously presided
over throughout the evening by Mrs.
E. U. Harris.
Those assisting Miss Benton in re
ceiving were her mother and father,
Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Benton, Mr. and
Mrs. H. M Hill and Mr. and Mrs. Rob
ert Smith. The registering book was
kept by Mr. Charles McWhorter. About
nine o’clock the “prom” cards were
passed by little Miss Onida Mae Hill,
Twenty-one “proms” were given for the
class of twenty-one.
Later in the evening a delieious sal
ad course was served in which the col
or schemes were effectively carried out.
About ninety guests were the recip
ients of Miss Benton’s hospitality.

Mr. B. B. Jackson returned this week
from fonyers, Ga., where he was call
ed on account of the death of his wife’s
father, Mr. Frank McDaniel. Mrs.
Jackson will remain in Conyers for
several days.
Mrs. S. F. Maughon Entertains
Sunday School Class.
Mrs. S. F. Maughon entertained her
Sunday school class last Thursday with
a delightful picnic at Reeves' Mill.
Many were present and a most enjoy
able time was spent by all.
Miss Runette Woodruff Gives
Class Picnic.
Miss Runette Woodruff gave her
Sunday school class a picnic last Mon
day at Reeves Mill which was highly
enjoyed by all. A delightful luncheon
was served and those present hud a
very pleasant time.
Miss Rowena Shedd Honored.
Sunday, May 29th, Miss Rowena
Shedd was given a surprise birthday
dinner by her sister, Mrs. Ola Hall.
Baskets of daisies with white and yel
low colors decorated the dining room
and table. The place cards carried the
daisy design. Covers were laid for the
following: Misses Lois and Eva Sega is,
Maggie Oliver, Rowena Shedd. Mr. Har
ris Mayo, of Winder, and Mr. T. K.
Shackelford, of Lawrenceville.
Miss Julia Thomas
Entertains.
The prom party given by Miss Julia
Thomas for Miss Lila Moore, who grad
uated from Winder High school this
year, was one of the most enjoyable
features of the s.asou. The whole low
or floor was beautifully decorated in
green, gold and white; large baskecs of
field daisies, the class flower, adorned
pedastals and tables. The punch bowl,
embedded in smilax aud daisies, was
presided over by Mrs. Williams.
The guests were met at the door by
Misses Thomas and Moore and Miss
Letha Cooper kept the register. Little
Gay Constance Thomas, daintily dress
ed in tulle and lace, gave out the pret
ty handpainted prom cjards. Others
assisting in entertaining were Mrs.
John Thomas, Misses Annie and Er
mine Thomas and Shirley Mathews.
At a late hour an ice course was serv
ed. Those invited were Misses Imogene

Nash-VVright Wedding
At Statham, Ga.
Beautiful and impressive in its sim
plicity was the pretty home wedding of
Miss Ruth Nash and Mr. Myron Wright
which was solemnized Sunday, May 29,
at six o’clock at the home of the bride’s
parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Nash, on
Broad street.
The reception hall was decorated with
great quantities of the season's bright
flowers. In the parlor where the cer
emony was solemnized there were bas
kets of sweet peas. The color scheme
of lavender and white was carried out
in the bower of beautiful floners com
posed of sacred lillies, American Beauty
roses, star jasamine and bride’s roses,
which were bordered with great clus
ters of snap dragons and feather few,
making a fitting back ground for the
lovely bride and groom.
The bride’s attendants were; flower
girl, Willie Lou Sikes; bridesmaids.
Miss Mary Perry and Miss Mozelle
Perry; matron of honor, Mrs. J. T.
Treadwell. The groomsman was Mr.
J. T. Treadwell. The bride was led to
the altar by her brother, Mr. Fred
Nash. The wedding march was played
by Miss Emmaline Sikes.
The bride wore a beautiful dress of
hand embroidered white georgette over
satin. She carried a shower boquet
of lillies and stan jasmine.

After the ceremony a reception was
given at the home of the groom's par
ents. After the reception the couple
left for a motor trip through the moun
tains of North Georgia, taking in
Clarkesville, Tallulah Falls, Nacoochee
Valley and many other points of inter
est in their trip. On their return they
will be at home to their friends at East
ville, Oa.
Bride’s Club.
Mrs. Roy Smith was the charming
hostess to the Brides club and a num
ber of friends at a sewing party. De
licious refreshments were served af
ter a merry time spent in sewing.

Mrs. Reese Couch delightfully enter
tained at a miscellaneous shower on
Tuesday afternoon complimentary to
Miss Ola Thompson.
The decorations used were dahlias
and nasturtiums, two contests were
much enjoyed, then little Miss Lona
Reese Couch dressed as a bride pre
sented the gifts. Sandwiches and tea
were served.

At Kitchen Shower.
An event of last week was the
kitchen shower on Friday afternoon
given by Mrs. J. B. Parham, in honor
of Miss Sadie Harris, a bride-elect of
this mouth.
The decorations used w T ere vases and
baskets tilled with vari-eolored sum
mer flowers. Several appropriate aud
amusing contests were enjoyed, then
little Joe Parham, Jr., representing cu
pid, showered the bride with many
useful gifts for the kitchen.
A salad course was served.

Sheats-Thompson.
On Wednesday afternoon, June the
first, at the home of Mrs. Vella Mae
Smith occurred the marriage of Miss
Ola Jane Thompson and Mr. James
Frances Sheats, of Atlanta, Ga.
The house was artistically decorated
with palms, ferns and baskets of cut
flowers. As the guests entered they
each registered in the bride’s book
which was presided over by Miss Mary
Meadows. During the ceremony, which
was performetT 6y Rev. L. VV. Collins
before an improvised altar, the strains
of Drdla’s violin solo “Souvenir” were
heard. An informal reception follow
ed immediately after the ceremony.
Misses Berta Meadows and Willie May
Sheats assisted Mrs. Smith in serving
a tempting salad course. After the
ceremony Mr. and Mrs. Sheats left for
a short bridal trip. Mrs. Sheats is one
one of Winder’s finest yoing ladies and
has numbers of friends in Winder
and Barrow county and Gwinnett coun
ty who wish for her much happi
ness. Mr. Sheats has friends over the
state. He is connected wifh the cot
ton business of Mr. John M. Williams
of Winder.
Mrs. DeLaPerriere Hoostess
At Sewing Party.
Among the delightful events on last
week’s calendar was Thursday after
noon when Mrs. G. W. DeLaPerriere
was hostess to the Junior Priscilla
Sewing club and a number of other
friends at a sewing party. The rooms
thrown together for the occasion were
prettily decorated with a profusion of
daisies. Besides sewing an amusing
contest afforded much pleasure. Punch
was served by Mrs. W. L. DeLaPerriere
and late in the afternoon a delicious
salad course was served in which the
daisy motif was also carried out.
