To The Student Body,
Faculty and the Public
Just a word in regard to the great
spirit shown our foot hall team on last
Friday when leaving for Greensboro to
play one of the hardest games of the
season. Friends, eleven boys and a
coach can’t win foot ball games; it
takts your help and by this we won
one of the best games we expect to win
this season. Asa coach we have the
best that can be found any where for a
High school. He loves the game; he
loves the boys, in fact his whole heart
is with it all the way. We consider
ourselves very fortunate in having
Coach Page as our instructor. He wins
the heart of every boy he comes in
contact with.
Asa team, no nicer set of boys can
be found, even if I am u member, for
they abide by the rules and play a
clean game. As we hoarded the big
truck! to sta,rt our journey toward
Greensboro the entire student body and
faculty were crowded ou the grounds
giving us yells, singing songs, and wish
ing for us a victory. Friends, this did
the coach and team world's of good ; it
made us believe that you really
thought of us as we were lighting the
game it filled the heart of every one
full of joy and we entered the game
determined to win regardless of cost
and that we did b.V bringing home a 7
to 0 victory.
Ou our return we found the faculty
and a majority of the student body
awaiting our return and with it they
had prepared a lion tire at \alley Paik
and there we found a number of citi
zens to help us enjoy the occasion af
ter an hour spent in giving yells, sing
ing songs and talking of our victory.
We were carried to the home of Mrs.
W. H. Quarterman there to find every
thing imaginable to eat being prepared
by the teachers and the high school
girls.
In behalf of the team and myself I
•extend our appreciation for such an
enjoyable occasion and we will try
and uphold the high standard of the
Winder High School.
Respectfully,
PERRY HILL, Captain.
