attempt made to
dynamite church
at high shaols.
High Shoals, Ga.,— Dissension in the
church is believed by some to have been
the cause for the attempt to blow up
the Holiness church building here last
Thursday morning. No one was hurt
h.v the explosion. The fuse was run
into the organ and it was blown to
splinters making a large hole in the
roof of the church. The building it
self was only slightly damaged. Oco
nee county authorities believe they ha\c
,a clue that will lead to the arrest of
the guilty persons.

How Not to Take Cold
Some persons are subject to frequent
colds, while others seldom, if ever, have
a cold. You will find that the latter
take good care of themselves. They
take a shower or cold sponge bath ev
ery day in a warm room, avoid over
heated rooms, sleep with window open
or partly open, avoid excesses, over
eating, becoming over heated and then
chilli*! and getting the feet wet. Then,
when they feel the first indication of a
cold, they take Chamberlain’s Cough
Remedy without delay and it is soon
over.

WILL SAULS LOSES
RESIDENCE BY FIRE
The residence of Mr. Will Sauls,
about two miles from Winder, just be
yond Russellville, was destroyed by
lire Sunday evening, November 13th.
No one was at home when the fire was
discovered, Mr. Sauls having walked
out to a tenant’s house on the place.
Only a part of the household goods
were saved. It is thought that the
lire was caused by a defective flue.
There was about $2,000 Insurance on

ly sympathize with them in their loss.

SNAP SHOTS.
By W. H. Faust
Surely it must be vanity to slave a
life-time to accumulate a fortune and
die and leave heirs to fuss and fume
over it.
It never rains but it pours, has prov
en to be true the last week. But the
good part of it is we are not stifled any
longer by dust.
Now where are all those fine roads
we have been promised, and what
about our tax money, and bow long will
a long-suffering public put up with
promises.
Now of all times ever, men should
not be forced into bankruptcy. A
square deal today will mean much to
morrow.
Thursday should be a day of express
ed gratitude to God, instead of turkey
gormandizing and football.
These days men and women too,
need ull the cheer, comfort and sym
pathy that can be bestowed. Help
the other fellow, he is as needy as
yourself.
Church attendance is picking up.
Men are beginning to realize their de
pendence upon God. More and more
folks are codling to see that they must
rely upon some greater power than lies
within themselves.
Preachers would do well to empha
size obedience, honesty and faithfulness
in these stressful times.
Rafny weather doesn’t keep people
away from picture shows and card par
ties, why then should it keep them
away from church?
Why should not S. S. teachers make
ns thorough preparation for their work
ns secular school teachers? One works
for time, the other eternity.
The fellow who studied Websters
Blue Back speller, not only learned
how to spell hut received tine moral
lessons from the fables and pictures in
the back.
Try praising and "smiling a little
these times and see if things wiil not
brighten up a bit.
COL. GANTT MARRIED.
A pleasing surprise to Ills host of
friends will be the announcement of
the marriage of Col. T. Lsrry Gantt.
At two o’clock Wednesday afternoon,
in the parlors of the First Baptist
church in Athens, he led to the altar
Miss Willie Calloway, one of Athens
most popular and talented young wom
en, and in the presence of a few rela
tives and friends, Dr. J. C. Wilkinson,
pastor of that church, pronounced the
words that made them man and wife.
The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Mary
Callaway, and one of the most promi
nent families in Georgia. We all
know Mr. Gant to be a man of pecul-
iarly high talents and one whose hosts
of friends extends over several states.
The very best wishes and warmest con
gratulations will lie wafted him by his
many friends.
They left after the ceremony for a
wedding trip, after which they will be
at the home of the bride’s mother in
Athens.
