SKMUMMJ.

C .‘'There seems to be some misunder
standing among the people of our town
concerning the alms and purposes of
the new Winder woman's club. Real-,
izing that this is wholly due to a lack
of knowledge, we feel that a clear
statement as to its object will not he
amiss.
In all of the larger cities and many
of the smaller towns, women have
awakened to the opportunities and re
sponsibilities that are theirs to help
better the social, intellectual, moral
and physical conditions of their com
munities. The women of Winder feel
that they, too. have such a work to do,
for they desire to make Winder not
only the lfvost town in the state, hut
also the cleanest, the most Intelligent,
the most law-abiding, und indeed, ull
round the best.
With this in view they have organiz
ed themselves into a Woman’s <Tub
u ml adopted a constitution in which
their purpose is thus stated:
OBJECT: The object of this organ
ization shall he the promoting of edu
cation, civic, social and moral welfare
in the community.”
This is not. in any sense, a club for
the few. It is desired that the whole
town he united in the work it is under
taking. Its membership is open to all
women. To tpiote the Constitution
again:
"Any woman who is in ucconl with
tin* purposes of this club shall be eli
gible for membership.”
Hence, it is desired that every wom
an who is Interested in the welfare of
Winder and its citizens, and especially
in its children shall attend its meetings
and become acquainted with the work
it is trying to do, and then shall give
her aid and influence in its nccom
p’ishment. It is onlv by pulling all
together tl.r "< can do fo" Winder
fhat should lie done. Cut working to
.ether, we can accomplish much.
Our motto, ‘‘lnformation, Inspiration

*TfiftWttOns in The activities of life, in
school and at church Is one of the best
indices of one’s interest in bis work,
in his school or in his church. The
man who is tardy in his business rela
tions. in the payment of his obligations,
in filling ills engagements of whatever
sort, is a source of annoyance to his
fellows and works hardships and con
fusion and disorganization upon those
with whom lie deals.
The child that habitually comes to
school late Is seldom Interested in his
work and he never ranks high In his
class. He, too, works a hardship upon
his teacher, his classmates and him
self and thus he causes every one to
lose that respect for him that goes
with readiness and promptness and
regularity. He forms a iiabit that fol
lows him and hurts him all through
life.
The late comer to church never gets
much from the service, and surely he
does not put much into it, either with
his presence or his interest. The fact
that he comes late is proof conclusive
that his interest is slight.
Frequently it happens that people
will proclaim their loyalty to their
school, their church and still go to
church late, seiid their children to
Sunday Hcsool late and allow their
children to he late at the day school.
Parents who habitually send tlieir
children to school or Sunday School
late show a very poor type of interest
and co-operation. The schools of our
land are supposed to teach promptness,
regularity, system and a spirit of co
operation. They can, and will do it,
with the proper support from the
fathers and mothers.
The majority of the mothers in Win
der would fool themselves shamed and
grieved if tlieir children should come
to school late. There are a few who
Imive so lit lie interest in the habits
tlieir children form niul so little inter
est in the chid's education that they
will ask the teachers of our public
school to excuse the children for un
justitinhle > reasons. The child under
such influence grows up with his life
only a bundle of excuses and he
amounts to but little in the world.
To which class of mothers do you
belong? Which class of students is
your child?

FIRE INSURANCE IS A S'EP IN
THE RIGHT DIRECTION
As you look with satisfaction at your tire insurance policies
you reulh * taut tire is a constant menace and feel secure
in your pi.- ection against such a misfortune.
But ..... about the many other things that may happen
which will cause you tiuoncial loss? Nobody knows from
what ipm.-or misfortune may come. Your paymaster may
ho robbed, your employees hurt, your clerks may prove dis
honest. your goods may be lost in transit, your automobile
may he wrecked, your own earning capacity may he effected
by sickness or accident.
These and many other losses may come any time and
when they do come they may cause a greater loss than n tire.
If the theory of insurance is sound you should appy it to
protect you and your property from every possible loss.
What a comforting feeling of security it will give you
to know that you arc protected from every possible danger
through the sound, reliable
