HITCHINS REIEREE
Hon. N. L. Hutchins has been
appointed referee in bankruptcy for
Gwinnett,Jackson, Walton,Newton,
Rockdale and Forsyth countries.
The appointment was made some
days ago by Judge Newman, of the
U. S- court for the Northern district
of Georgia, and Mr. Hutchins has
given bond and entered upon the
duties of his office. The appoint
ment come unsolicted on the part
of Mr. Hutchins.
Clifford Walker of Monroe, has
been referee for some years.
The office is an important one
but the appointment of the Law,
renceville man places a capable and
honest office in charge of the court
of bankruptcy.
The people of Lawrcneeville and
tire county arc pleased at the ap
pointment.

Ross. The bride is a daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. James Thurmond,
and the groom is the son of Mr.

Miss Lucy Turner, of Geneva,
Ga-, is the admired guest of her sis

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Ginn, of
High Bhoals, is the guest of Mr.
and Mrs. Wesley Boyd.
The people of Statham are wel
eming Mr. Oscar Osborn and family,
of Oconee county, who has moved
here.

Jefferson, after spending a few days
hunting with the boys-

charge of Mr. L. D. Nickelson’s
millinery establishment this season,
has returned to her home in Win
der. Miss Coker has many warm
friends in Statham w T ho hope to see
her again next season.
Tuesday night ‘‘For Love or
Money’’ was presented at the Audi
torium by talent from Winder. The
attendance was small by reason of
the sudden appearance of cold
weather and the short notice given
our people that the play would be
rendered. Those who witnessed
the play speak very complimentary
of the production.
Col. J. F. Holmes spent Wednes
day in Atlanta.

BRIEFLEES.
A strong resolution was adopeted
at the South Georgia conference
calling upon the governor to rigidly
enforce the state prohibition law in
places where the officers cannot or
will not enforce it.
With a note in his pocket to the
effect that he would kill himself as
soon as he reached Buford, Mr.
Eldrige Strickland, a well-to-do
bachelor of Forsyth, near the Hall
line, stood near a livery stable in
Buford Saturday and deliberated
placed a pistol to his head and
fired, death ensuing almost imme
diately.
