Mr. Lon Whitehead spent Satur day night with Mr. Fate Fulcher. Mr. and Mrs. \V. T- Wood visited home folks Sunday. Messrs. Ezra and Lamar Hope visited in Atlanta last week. Mr. and Mrs. John Jenkins, of Candler, have moved into our settle ment. Miss Fannie Hancock is visiting friends in Jefferson this week. Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Fite made a business trip to Winder Saturday. Mrs. J. M. Johnson is visiting in Atlanta, the guest of her son, Mr. C. E. Johnson. J. You have given u> splendid service, so why not ring off for Christmas week. Mr. Sam Teal has moved his family to Gwinnett county. Mr- I’liilmore Haves has moved to Oglethorpe county. Mr. John X. Ross, and family, of Jefferson, will move to this sec tion in the near future. Judge Boss is making extensive improvements on his farm here. We gladly wel come John and his excellent wife lo this section. Mr. Luther Grizzle and wife visit ed relatives in Oconee county one day this week. The entertainment at Mr- L. L. Jones one day last week was highly enjoyed by all present- Why do so many people Jjiink Christmas is a time to dm k? Isn’t it as much a disgrace to get drunk at this time of year as it is any time? We think it is more so. This should he a season of worship and thanksgiving. Try spending the money you would put in whisky for a present for father, mother, sister, brother or ehild and see how it pans out. It will not only make someone happy, but will do you good, while whisky can only mean harm and trouble. Little Hoyt Jones spent last week with Mrs. Will llaynie at Tyro. Mr. Charles Manning spent Sun day with Rev. R. J. Huff. Mr. Manning is from Atlanta. Miss A. P. Dillard, of Arnolds ville, will visit Mrs. B. B. Russell this week. Mrs. George Coker, of Athens, is visiting Mrs- W. F. Bell this week. Several fine hogs w. re killed in our town during the cold spell. Mr and Mrs. Rasborry Cofer spent Thursday with Mrs. J. R. Cox. Mr and Mrs. Fred Cox have re turned to Hieir home at New Tim othy from an extended visit to Mrs. J. R. Cox. Rev. Seabron Arnold tilled his regular appointment here Saturday and Sunday with a large crowd present. Mr. Carl Cox visited his parents Sunday. He is now holding a fine position with one of the leading dry good firms of Athens. Mr. \V. 11. Burson, who has been very sick, is somewhat improved in health. Mrs. George Johns and little daughter, Susie, and Mrs. Hillman Jackson visited friends here Satur day. The warehouse which is being built on the Seaboard railroad, in front of Mr. J. L.J. Beil’s,will soon be a mpleted. Rev. X. E. Mcßreyer who was assigned at the last session 'of the North Georgia eonfeaence to the home which was donated by Judge It. B. Russell, moved to our city this week, and is now at home at the parsonage, corner Hiwassee Street and Madison Avenue. Mrs. Mcßreyer and their sons, Flether and Warren.accompanied him. The two daughters will come later. This isstraight talk right from the shoulder and we make good every assertion.
