STATE OF GEORGIA,
COUNTY OF BARROW.
OFFICE OF THE ORDINARY
HITTING FOR COUNTY PURPOSES.
TO THE QUALIFIED VOTERS OF
BARROW COUNTY
Notice if< hereby given to the voters
of Barrow County that on the 22n<J
<lnv of July, 15119, an election will he
held in Barrow County, at which will
be submitted to the qualified voters of
aaid county, for their determination,
the question whether bonds shall be is
sued by said Barrow County, Georgia,
in the aggregate amount of One Hun
dred Thousand Dollars ($100,000.00) to
be applied to and used for the purpose
of erecting and building and equipping
and furnishing a COl RT HOI hK in
and for said county, to be know n as the
BARROW COUNTY COURT HOUSE.
Haul bonds to be issued are described
ns follows: BARROW COUNTY
COURT HOUSE BONDS.
The said issue of bonds in the aggre
gate sum of One Hundred Thousand
Dollars, if issued, shall consist of one
hundred bonds, in number, numbered
from one (1) to one hundred (WO)
both inclusive, each of said bonds to lie
of the denomination of One Thousand
Dollars ($1,000.00) and all of said
bonds are to bear interest at the rate of
five per centum per annum (5 per cent.)
from the first day of August, 1910, pay
able annually on the first day of Janu
ary in each year and the principal
thereof is to be payable as follows:
Five thousand dollars ($5,000.00) on
January first, 1930, and Five Thousand
Dollars ($5,000.00) on the first day of
January of the years 1931, 1932, 1933,
1934, 1935, 1930, 1937, 1938, 1939, 1940,
1941, 1942, 1943, 1944, 1945, 1940, 1947,
1948, 1949, the said several installments,
twenty in number, of five bonds eaeh of
the proposed issue, aggregating the sum
of $100,000.00 and on the last named
date, January first, 1949, all of said
bonds, principal and interest, are to be
fully paid oIT.
Said election shall be held ut all the
voting precincts within the limits of
the said county and shall be held by
the same persons and in the same man
ner and under the same rules and regu
lations as those that govern elections
for county officers for the said county

said date for holding the said election,

of the United States of the present
weight and fineness at such place as
may be designated in the bonds.
Those desiring to vote in favor of the
issue of said bonds'will do so by east
ing their ballots having written or
printed upon them the words “For liar
row County Court House Bond*,” and
those desiring to vote against the issue
of said bonds will do so by easting bal
lots having written or printed upon
them the words “Against Barrow Coun
ty Court House Bond*.

A THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK.
Recently 1 was a visitor in two
homes. The first was a home of
abundance; we ate on rich china,
and sat afterward amid expensive
surroundings. I wondered that a
man who had so much should seem
to find so little satisfaction in it.

ure of the only things in life that

est. The man who dwells in it will
never he heard of beyond the lini

years lie has made it a rule to take
some regular time each day to he a
comrade to his boys. Their read
ing, their sports, their problems
are a first consideration on his cal
endar. In business he makes only
his living; at home he is guiding
and molding lives, lie has put hu
manity in his debt. hTe lives that

shed glory on his name long after

TO THE QUALIFIED VOTERS OF

Notice is hereby given to the voters
of Barrow County that on the 22nd day
of July, 1919, an election will be held
in Barrow County, at which will be
submitted to the qualified voters of
said county for their determination the
question whether bonds shall be issued
by said Barrow County, Georgia, in the
aggregate amount of One Hundred
Thousandn Dollars ($100,000.00) to be
applied to the purpose of establishing,
constructing, building, widening, strai
ghtening, soiling, stumping and grading
the public roads in said county, and in
building new roads in said county, and
for the purchase of matedial, equip
merit, tools, machinery and supplies
and to lie used in such work.
Said bonds to be issued are described
as follows: PUBLIC ROAD BONDS.
The said issue of bonds in the aggre
gate sum of one hundred thousand dol
lars, if issued, shall consist of one hun
dred bonds, in number, numbered from
one (1) to one hundred (100) both in
clusive, each of said bonds to be ot the
denomination of one thousand dollars,
($1,000.00) and all of said bonds are to
bear interest at the rate of five per cen
tum per annum (5 per cent) from the
first day of August, 1919, payable an
nually on the first day of January in
each year and the principal thereof to
be payable as follows: Five Thousand
Dollars, ($5,000.00) on the first of Janu
ary 1930, and Five Thousand Dollars,
($5,000.00) on the first of January of
the years 10.11, 1932, 10.1.1, 10.14, 1935,
10.10, 1937, 19.18, 1930, 1040, 1041, 1942;
1943, 1944, 1945, 1940, 1947, 1948, 1949,
and said several installments, twenty
in number, of five bonds each of the
proposed issue, aggregating the said
sum of $100,000.00 and on the last
named date, January first, 1940, all of
said bonds, principal and interest, are
to be fully paid off.
Said election shall bo held at all the
voting precincts within the limits of
the said county, and shall he held by
the same persons and in the same man

of Harrow, and the returns of the said
elections shall be made by the eleetion
managers to the Ordinary of Harrow
County, and said Ordinary of Harrow
County shall, in the presence of and to
gether with the said several managers
of elections who bring up the said re-
turns, consolidate the said returns and
declare the result. The hours tor hold
ing the said election will be the same as
the hours for holding the election for
.county officers; namely, seven o’clock
4t. m. at Ihe court house six o’clock
p. m. and at the other precincts in said
county from eight o’clock a. m. until
three o’clock p. in. sun time, on the
sai'l date for holding the said election,
July 22, 1919.
Both principal and interest on the
said bonds is to be payable in gold coin

Strange Street Name*.
Whnt Is the quaintest street name

to the late Sir Laurence Gonune's evi
dence before the local records com
mittee, appears as the name of a street
In Whipping in a sewers rate book for
1748. In those days the naming of a
street was not in the hands of a sedate
public authority, hence the oddity of
some of these old names.

The Barrow County Drug Com
pany brings this its petition to the
< 'ourt and shows the follow ing
facts:

On January 4, 1913, an order
was issued by the Superior ('ourt
of .Jackson County incorporating
the .1. T. Wages Drug Company
for a period of twenty years from
that date, at that time the juris
diction of said matter being in
Jackson County.

On November 22, 1915, an order
issued from the Superior Court of
Harrow County changing the
name of said corporation to that
of “Harrow County Drug Com
pany,” and said drug com
pany has since operated under
said amended charter.

Petitioner desires to surrender
its charter and franchise to the
State and he dissolved jis a corpo
ration, and files herewith a certifi
ed abstract of the meeting of tlie
stock ladders of The Harrow Coun
ty Drug Cos. authorizing the said
surrender, said meeting having
been called for that purpose and
at said meeting more than two-
thirds, and in fact all of said
stockholders being present:

Petitioner further shows that
such dissolution may he allowed
without injustice to any stock
holder, or any person having
claims or demands of any charac
ter against said corporation.
WHEREFORE, Petitioner
prays that the Court shall sign a
decree accepting the surrender of
jhe charter of the Harrow County
Drug Company, and dissolving the
said corporation according to law.

effect of overhead discharge of elec
tricity plant growth gave some re

ned out on a field of oats, and the elec
