HEALTH LAWS PASSED
AND NOT PASSED
The Georgia State Hoard of Health
did not slo t eed in gt-tiing through the
recent legislature all the laws it de
sired. but (eels encouraged that it did
get unanimous favorable report from
the committees to which was referred
the various hills for their deliberation
and careful consideration.
We did hope to get through our
School Sanitation and Vital Statisti
cal amendments, our amendments to
the Ellis Health Law. our Law against
advertising of patent medicines and.
above all, our law regulating the issu
ing of Marriage License. This law
regulating the issuing of Marriage Li
tense, we think, is one of the most
important that has been offered. It
is being urged as a safeguard to our
girls against Infection of Venereal
Diseases from their future husbands,
also that the future generations may
have tiie t ight to he born healthy and
free from being horn blind from gon
orrhoea. in deformed from syphilis.
Not taking into consideration the thou
sands of children prematurely born
from tliis infection.
The law that we advocate requires
the prospective husband and father
to present to the Ordinary, when he
makes upplii atic for his marriage li
cense, a certificate front a reputable
physician that lie is free from Vene
real Disease. What responsible man
can object to this? What argument

law? What manner of man would
