“ A year ago our people poured
out their hearts in praise and
thanksgiving that through divine
aid 1 Ik* right was victorious and
peace had come to the nations
which had so courageously strug

and justice. Now that the stern
task is ended and the fruits of ach

of an era where the sacrifices of
the nations will find recompense
in a world at peace.
“ 11ii 1 to attain the consummat

great American people devoted
their manhood and the vast re

should, as they give thanks to < !<>d
reconsecrate themselves to those
principles of right which triumph

Due gratitude can find no more
pressing expression than to bul

those principles for which the free
peoples of the earth fought and
died.
“During the past year we have
hafl much to make us grateful. In
spite of the confusion in our econ

we have prospered. Our harvests
have been plentiful and of our
abundance we have been able to
render succor to less favored na

the path of progress and civiliza

Ihe great blessings, vouch

to a fuller sense of our duty to
ourselves and to mankind to see
to it that nothing we may shall
mar the completeness of the vic

No selfishli purpose animated
us in becoming participants in the
world war, and with a like spirit
ot unselfishness we should strive
to aid by our example and hv our
co-operation in realizing the en

in bringing into being a world
ruled by Iriendship and good will.
Wherefore, I, Woodrow Wil

As Dead asAe Dodo
Every druggist in town —your druggist and everybody’s drug
gist has noticed a great falling off in the sale of calomel. They
all give the same reason. Dodson’s Liver Tone is taking its
place.
“Calomel is dangerous and people know it, while Dodson’s
Liver Tone is perfectly safe and gives better results,” said a
prominent local druggist.
Take “Dodson’s Liver Tone” Insteadl
Dodson's Liver Tone is personally
gtsnianteed by every druggist who

to ask for your money back.

WHY THE SWINDLER DIDN T
APPEAR.
It is impossible to say in just
how many ways a local farmer’s
organization can be helpful to its
members. Here is one example.
In the writer’s county a com
pany of farmers operate a ware
house. In charge of ibis warehouse
as directors are some level-headed
farmers with good business judge
ment, who have also retained a
good local lawyer as their attor
ney. Into this community recently
came some agents selling stock in
a Florida soft phosphate mining
company, and making all kinds of
promises to prospective investors.
The farmers in this community
said to the agent: “Well, we
should like to have the combined
judgement of our best men about
your proposition. We will get our
hoard of directors to ineel at such
an hour, together with our attor-
ney, and you may come before
them and tell them your proposal.
Then if after their investigation
they think it safe and wise for us
to invest our money with you. we
will do so.” 4'ho agent, of course,
had to agree that this was a fair
enough proposition and promised
to meet the directors. But when
the appointed time for the meeting
came, be w as now here to be found,
lie had skipped on to other pas
lures where farmers were more
gullible and less well organized!
Just now when the woods are
full of swindling, stock-selling ag
ents. this sort of cooperation
might be practiced to advantage
in almost any county in the South.
