Miss Lurline Lawson’s many friends are delighted to know that she is improving. Mrs. John Bryant, of Atlanta, was the guest of his brother, Mr. Web Bryant Sunday last. Miss Lucile Elder left Tuesday for a week’s visit to Mrs. J. Mote Watts and Mrs. Emma Mallet. Mr. and Mrs. J. Mote Watts and little daughter Martha visit ed friends in Flovilla recently. Misses Clary, Bryant and Nor ris and Mr. Aldine Thompson of Macon visited friends here cun day. Mrs. Lula Duke has returned from Macon where she was the guest of her brother, Mr. Lamar Willi ams. Miss Elizabeth Dozier, of Jas per equity, who attended the Tiiwnpson-Ellis nuptials, has re turned home. Mr. Hugh Benton, Mr. Howard Persons, Misses El lis, Smith, Loyd and Paine. The wedding Thanksgiving daj of Miss Clara, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S. L. Thompson, and Mr. John Bowden Ellis, of Ben tonville, one of the prettiest ever solemnized in Flovilla. Preced ing the ceremony Miss Mariamne Dozier sang, “The Garden of Roses,’’ accompanied at the pi ano by Miss Laura Strickland, of Atlanta, with violin accompani ment by Dr. Robt. Thompson, of Jackson, brother of the bride. R r 'V. Mr. Elliot performed the ceremohy at 2 o’clock in the pres ence of a large company of rela tives and fritnds. An improvised altar of palms and ferns made a lovely setting for the bridal par ty. The bride’s mother was as sisted in receiving by her daugh ter, Miss Alice Thompson and Miss Lula Dozier. The bride is epe of Flcvill Js most attractive young ladies and the groom is an excellent gentleman and a prom inent planter of Jasper county. BUTTS COUNTY PROGRESS, JACKSON, GA., FRIDAY, DECEMBER 3, 1909. JACKSON ROUTE NO. 2 Miss Deedie McClure is visiting friends in Atlanta this week. Mrs. T. G. Lemons, who has been ill for some time, is able to be out again we are glad to state. The Schott Engineering Cos., of Chicago, who has the contract to build the transmission lines from Bibb via Forsyth to Macon, has established a camp on No. 2 and is going right along laying th-T foundation for the work. Cotton picking is about over and a thing of the past for this year and the farmers are sowing a good deal of grain. Miss Byrd Maddox, who has been visiting friends at Glades ville and Monticello, has returned home to the delight of her many friends, Mr. and Mrs. Zack Hards an nounce the birth of a girl. Mr. L. M. Hodges has recently moved into his handsome new house. Mr. J. W. Nosworthy has mov ed into his big store on the road to the dan, while his brother Walter Nosworthy wall still run the store at Hodges old mill. Mr. J. R. Conner is building a handsome house on the Watkins place he recently bought and will move there after Xmas. Mr. an 1 Mrs. L. A. Maddox visited the latters parents in Hen ry county last week. Mr. Robert Hamlin moved his family last week to the J. A. Pittman place where he will re side another year. Miss Mary Duke of Worthville spent last week very pleasantly with her aunt Mrs. E. J. May field. With the fine weather of ihe last several weeks work on the big dam is going on rapidly. It is understood the company will will not import any more of the Dagoes, Poles, Slavs and such people, as a good many have run away and their work is none too satisfactory. A force of about 20 or 25 carpenters, all white ana prominent citizens of Chattanoo ga, came last Saturday to do car penter work. Since having anew cover put >n and other improvements made Pleasant Grove church presents quite an attractive appearance. Judge O. A. Andrews has put i new top on his pretty country bouse that adds much to its ap pearance. Frank McMichaeland family last Saturday and Sunday. Mr. R. D. Wilson, who has been one cf the chief inspectors at the dam, left a few days ago for his home in Boston, Mass. Capt. J. W. Hilliard was a prominent visitor to the city on Monday. Messrs Jack Stewart and W. C. Stodghill of Old Bethel were visi tors on No. 2 Monday. Misses Annabelle Watkins and Janie Lemons will visit friends near McDonough Sunday. Mr. i'roy Thomas’ friends were glad to see him up from Sparks the first of the week. Mr. Edward G. Duke, one of the county’s most prominent citi zens, and accomplished daughter Miss Mae were shopping in the city Tuesday. Miss Annabelle Watkins enter tained at a spend-the-day party Thanksgiving. Those present were Misses Adelle and Nancy Bloodworth of Milner, Lilia Wat kins and Janie Lemon, Messrs Robert Bloodworth, J. W. Curry G r ion Thompson and Toni Wat kins. Miss Janie Lemon entertained a number of her friends Wcd.ies day evening at a tacky party. Landers. Rouj.h Rider. SEEK TO ENJOIN THE CENTRAL POWER GOKPANY Petitions seeking to enjoin the Central Georgia Power Company from arbitrating the property of J. E. Kitchens and Dr. R. W. Mays, have been filed in the su perior court. Cos. H. M. Fletcher representing Dr. Mays and Col. C. L. Redman as attorney for Mr. Kitchens went to McDon ouggh Monday to lay their claims before Judge Reagan. The case of Mr. Kitchens was heard and Judge Reagan took the matter under advisement. Objection is filed to the pro posed arbitration as the pap rs vere served. It is said that a ;Ood deal of land would be cov red up by the reservoir and that the defendants would be dam a?ed considerably. JUDGE D ANIEL TO MAKE THE RACE Judge Robert T. Daniel, of Griffin, was in the city this week and while here stated he was in the race for judge of the Flint circuit to succeed Judge Reagan 3 vho will not be a candidate. He spent the day meeting and talk ing with the people of the city md county and won with flatter ing offers of support. Judge Daniel, in addition to being an ible lawyer and prominent in fraternal circles, is s most esti mable gentlemen of pleasing ap pearance.
