LOCAL ITEMS. Mr. T. B. Maddox was among Uw? visitor to the city the first sf the week. Mr. C. L. Maddox of route No 2 was a prominent visitor to th< city Monday. Messrs H. P. Parnell and B H. Hencely of Flovilla were vis; tors to the city Monday. The Butts County Teachers .Association had an interesting ireeting here last Suttrday. Messers 0. S. Duke, H. C. Let son and J. G. Pope were am on the visitors in town Saturday. Judge T. G. Preston of the cit; court of Flovilla was among tin prominent visitors to the city yesterday. The late Congressman James M. Griggs, who died at Dawson feist week, was a law partner of Judge Beck and Col. Y. A. Wright in Jackson in 1894 for a short time, and is pleasantly remem bered here. At the annual election held in Flovilla Wednesday aldermen for the ensuing year were elected as follows: A. F. White, F. C. Mad dox, E. L. Lawson, J. T. Edwards and J. W. Terrell. Hon. T. 0. Uneh is mayor for a term of two years. Benjamin Franklin, of Barnes- Aille, brother of Dr. R. A. Frank lin of this city, was issued a com mission last week from the office of Adjutant General A. J. Scott as captain of Company G, Second infantry regiment, otherwise known as the Barnesville Blues. As Others See Us.
