ANNOUNCEMENTS. FOR CONGRESS. Forsyth, Ga., Feb. 1, 1910. To the People of the Sixth Congression al District: I am a candidate for Congress sub ject to Democratic nomination. In this announcement I will not un dertake to incorporate my entire plat form, but cannot refrain from saying that as a member of Congress I would strenuously oppose all extravagant ex penditure of the peopies money and all unnecessary and burdensome taxation, and every effort made to encroach up on “states rights” and would stand un flinchingly and unfalteringly against all laws in conflict with the principle “Equal rights for all and special privi leges to none.” I believe that this should be in reali ty as it is in theory a government of the people, by the people and FOR the people. As your representative 1 would de vote to the duties of my office my time, my energy and whatever of talent I have and requests from any citizen of the District however humble he might be, would receive prompt and careful attention. If elected I will enter upon the dis charge of my duties without pledge or promise to any man or set of men but absolutely free and independent to do my full duty as God gives me the light to see it. During the entire period of my service in the House, I have been faced by a Republican majority, strongly ad verse in sentiment and policy to the best interests of the people of my sec tion, but my record here will demon strate that in every word I have spoken and in every vote I have cast, I have had an eye single to the honor and welfare of the people I represent. Whether my duty as a Representative has called me to resist the insidious at tempts that are being constantly made to undermine the sovereign dignity of the States, to oppose the encroachments of organized monopoly upon the rights and substance of the people, or to de fend the institutions and glorious tradi tions of our own section, I have re sponded to that call with all the force and vigor of my being; As the Repre sentative of a free people, 1 have de nounced tyranny in whatever form it has appeared, and actively participa ted in the movement to wrest the con trol of the House from the arrogant despotism that has been erected in the people’s forum by the Speaker and his Committee on Rules. My record in this and all other matters will most conclusively show that I have never on any occasion faltered or hesitated in the course of duty dictated by perfect loyalty to my constituents and party. Believing that my long experience will enable me to serve more efficient ly the people of the District in the next House, which, from all indica tions, will be Democratic, and with grateful appreciation of their support and confidence in the past, I ask a re nomination at the hands of my con* -atituency. , C. JACKSON ROUTE NO. 2 (Last Week’s Letter) Mr. J. T. Nichols spent Tuesday in Macon on business. Hon. and Mrs. C. A. Pittman were visitors to Jackson Tuesday. Mr. Tom C. Jones and Miss Bessie Maddox were taking an automobile ride in the city Tuesday afternoon. Mr. Harvey Hodges was a visitor to Jackson Tuesday. Mr. W. J. Massee and a party of friends from Macon were visitors to the dam Monday, making the trip in his automobile in a short time. Capt. J. W. Hilliard returned a few days ago from a business and pleasure trip to points in Florida. Mr. C. C. Lummus, wha underwent a serious operation i few days ago, is getting along nicely and will be out in a few days. Mr. James T. Stewart, while carry ing a pole of wood happened to make an akward step and was thrown heavily to the ground, seriously injur ing Ins back. He is resting easy at present. J. B. Thomas returned this weekjrom a visit of several days to relatives in Newton county. Mr. Bob Duke, a prominent farmer of Henry county, has been the guest of his brother, Mr. E. G. Duke. Messrs.
