Georgia likes her politics hot, boiling, sizzling, sulphuric and effervescent. The best way to forecast elec tion results is to wait until the returns are in. The state has been swept so much lately we hope the blankety blank thing is clban. Get busy for Jackson and your county Let’s make this the ban ner year in our history. The census figures give Atlan ta a population of 154,000. She feels every bit of it, too. In the progressive game of tag that Joe and Hoke are playing the score is about even to date. The governor’s race was not the only close one. Several of the congressmen went down in defeat. School days will soon be here, cotton will begin coming into market and things will soon be humming. Joseph D. Boyd is now editor of the Griffin News & Sun. We welcome him into the ranks of the fourth estate. The Smith men are as much surprised as they were two years ago, but the result is on the oth er side of the fence. Joe Brown and Hoke Smith run closer than any other two men who have ever opposed each oth er for governor in Georgia. We are for Jackson and Butts county first last and all the time. Now that the primary is over let us all put in the hardest year’s work of our lives for town and county. There are things more important than politics. Smile damn you, smiled One swallow does not make a summer and there will be other elections, city, county, state and national. HAM AND CARTER CO. IN THEIR NEW STORE Ham & Carter Company are moving this week into their new store in the Mays building on the north side of the courthouse square. This firm will have a general department store, carrying a com plete line execpt millinery. The grocery room is located in the west side of the building while the dry goods department will be in the corner room at the comer of Second and Mulberry street. The dry goods department will be in charge of Mr. L. W. Russell, who is an experienced salesman and buyer, and Mr. Otis Ham and Miss Alice Maddox. Other help will be secured as needed. The grocery department will be in charge of those who have han dled it so efficiently in the past. This store is one of the pretti est and best located in Jackson. It is thoroughly modern and ele gant in all its appointments. The company is looking forward to a large patronage in Butts and ad jacent counties. Coming to Jackson! Dr. J. E. Masrow, the eminent Eye-Sight specialist of Savannah will be with Dr. J. A. Jarrell Monday and Tuesday, August 29th, and 30th. The reason Dr. Masrow is coming to Jackson is because his family is stopping at Indian Spring and having receiv ed a number of requests from people of this county to come, he has arranged to be with Dr. J. A. Jarrell Monday and Tuesday Aug. 29th, & 30th. Those suf fering with any eye trouble, or in need of glasses should consult him while the opportunity pre sents itself. (Communicated) HAVE FAMILY REUNION AFTER NINETEEN YEARS SEPARATION After being divided for near ly nineteen years, the home of Mr. and Mrs. Abram H. Foster (colored) was the scene of a hap py reunion on last Thursday af ternoon Aug. 18, 19KX The af ternoon was very pleasantly spent with the entire family, father, mother, nine children, seven sis ters. two brothers, seven grand children, four sons-in-law and a few special friends present.
