The University football team is still winning games. Now for a bigger, better, busier city through more pay rolls. Jackson is still waiting for that new railroad and cheaper freight rates. Some improvements on the Court House Square would help out wonderfully. Sewerage means a cleaner and a healthier city. Jackson is ripe for sewerage now. There is but one time to pull for your town and county, and that is all the time. A work-together, pull-together spirit is what Jackson needs right now. Are you doing your part? The Progress is for any move ment that means the advance ment of Jackson and Butts county. Anew hotel, more factories, bigger payrolls—these are among the things Jackson needs. How about them? South Georgia wants a South Georgian for Governor, but as usual, they seem to be pretty well divided. They will have to build anew and larger executive mansion right away if Dick Russell is elected Governor. You can buy goods as cheap in Jackson as anywhere else in the country. Make this town your shopping headquarters. We don't know anything about the New Jersey brand of mos quitoes, but the local set is an industrious lot of pests. The election for Governor will hardly be held before the first of next year. By that time a little local politics may play a part in the voting. The election is a long ways off. Many things mav happen yet. Don't forget to work for your town and county all you can. Politics will keep. They say “Plain Dick" is a Methodist. The two Browns are Baptists. But none of the can didates will be elected entirely by the church vote. Take enough time from your business to consider the needs of the town and county occasionally. In other words, inject some pub lic spirit into your work. Butts county lands are fertile, she has good common schools, she is fast getting good roads. Come here and help us grow. All good citizens are welcomed. A dairy run on the right plan would pay woll here. It is hard, well-nigh impossible at times, to get milk and butter. This will be.a paying investment for any body who tries it. Of course it would be a great convenience to every taxpayer in Butts county if the court house were lighted. Let's hope she will be rigged up as soon as the city gets power from the dam. Jackson has plenty of desirable factory sites. An abundance of cheap electric power will soon be available. Let's organize and go out after the things the town needs. This is a work for every body. Butts county will soon have an important murder trial. This is a time when all law-abiding citi zens ought to support the officers in seeing that justice is done. Let us prove to the world that we are thoroughly civilized. The State Fair is now open in Macon. Butts county ought to be represented by an exhibit. The farmers should form an or ganization and see that another year does not pass without Butts county being represented at the State Fair. What Jackson needs most of all at this time is a number of small factories, such as furniture, overall, broom and other factories of that nature. It will take man ufacturing enterprises to make Jackson the city she ought to be. We have plenty of cheap power, and now let's land the factories. After this year Jackson will be free of all her old debts. Now that she has contracted for plenty of cheap power, the next important thing for the city to do is to vote bonds for sewerage. Part of the citizens have sewer age now. All the people ought to have the benefits of sewerage.
