MOORE NOT A CANDIDATE To the White Voters of Butts County: As I am being daily interro gated by many of the good citi r?ns of Butts county as to whether I will be .a candidate to succeed myself in the Legislature, I take this method of stating that l will not stand for re-election. I dot'ply appreciate the generous support of Iny fellow-citizens in electing me to this office, and will continue to do all in my power to make them an efficient and capable representative dur ing the present term. I give this information to the public at this time because I do not want to stand in the way of any good citizen who might be come an applicant for this posi tion. Sincerely thanking you for the honor which you have conferred upon me, and regretting that my business is such that I cannot further serve my county in this capacity without considerable financial sacrifice, I am, most gratefully, Your fellow-citizen, J. Upon retiring from business in Jackson I wish to thank the peo ple of the town and county for their patronage and kindness to me while a citizen among them. My only reason for leaving Jack son, which I consider one of the best little cities in the State, is on account of the declining health of my father, to whose interests in McDonough I will devote my time in the future. YOUNG LADY HAS NARROW ESCAPE Miss Florence Coody, the 13- year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Boss Coody, of Indian Spring, had a narrow escape from d£ath Tuesday afternoon when she fell in a well 65 feet deep. She held to the terracotta pipe with which the well was curbed until members of the fam ily could secure a rope and draw her out. The young lady was in the well thirty minutes and was nearly exhausted when she was rescued. Miss Coody was given medical attention, and aside from the fright and exhaustion, is said to be resting comfortably. She was drawing water when the exciting experience occurred. SUDDEN WAS THE DEATH OF MR. T. B. BRITT After a period of ill health ex tending over several months, Mr. T. B. Britt died suddenly at his home in Pepperton Tuesday morning. Heart failure is supposed to have been the cause of death. Mr. Britt, who was 66 years of age, was a Confederata veteran and spent the greater portion of his life in Butts county, where he was born and reared. He wa* married many years ago to a Miss Barnett, by whom he is survived. He leaves several children and other relatives. The funeral and interment was held at Macedonia Wednesday af ternoon. We have just received from Crane & Breed Manufacturing Company, Cincinnati, one of the nicest funeral cars ever brought to any small town in the South. This car will be for special use in good weather, both in town and country. We have lighter cars to be used in bad weather. We are the only Undertakers in this section who have a tent to erect over the grave in bad and hot summer weather for the comfort of the relatives and friends while waiting for the interment.
