SANDY Mrs. Leila Moore spent last Friday with Mrs. B. J. Gibson. Miss Alene Gibson was the week-end guest of friends at Cork. Miss Pearl Griffith spent Fri day with Misses Annie and Win nie Hay. Messrs. L. M. Crawford and 0. E. Smith were in this commu nity last week. Misses Agnes and Vivian and Mr. Riley Hay were visitors to Jackson last Wednesday. Misses Lucy Hay and Myrtle Long spent Sunday with Misses Mary and Maggie Moss. Mesdames Alice Martin and Pearl Mayfield spent Friday night with Mrs. Billie Mayfield. Mr. J. Matt McMichael was in this community last wek in the interest of the Farmers Co-oper ative Fire Insurance Cos. Misses Irene and Emma Kim bell. of Jenkinsburg, will spend next Sunday with their aunt. Mrs. .J. W. Mayfield. Mrs. R. D. Leverette was at the bedside of her little niece. Mr. Troy Sander's little girl, who was very sick last week. Miss Vallie Lee Torbett enter tained her school at Ricky Hill with an Easter egg hunt last Fri day afternoon. Maggie Martin won the prize by. finding the lar gest number, sixteen. The chil dren recited their Easter speech es before the egg hunt and these were very much enjoved by all present. EASTER EGG HUNT. An enjoyable event was the Easter egg hunt given by Prof. R. L. Hammond Friday after noon. There was also an inter esting program in the school be fore the hunt. The decorations were of pink and green, which made a beauti ful effect after the curtain went up. “Welcome” was given by Master Talmadge Maddox. Then followed many other recitations, pantomimes and p ays. Those who won the prizes were Miss Jessie Turner and Master Paul Maddox. There was an ad dress on education by Mr. C. L. Maddox. Refreshments were served by Prof. Hammond and Miss Mattie Maddox. Those present were Commis sioner C. S. Maddox and Mr. J. B. Guthrie and the patrons of the school. This little entertainment will be long remembered by all those present. Prof. Hammond has gained a large number of friends during the short tim > he been teach ing here. He is loved by both patrons and children. His first school days were at this dear old spot, Elgin public school.
