The Senator’s pet hobby is the im provement of conditions on the farm and 4n rural life. Nothing gives him more pleasure than to receive a heavy mail loaded down with requests for Farmers’ Bulletins and other publi cations relating to agriculture. Wilson Had Big Majority in Butst Ik The consolidated returns of Tuesdays election in Butts coun ty show that Woodrow Wilson ran away from the other candi dates. His vote was 490 to 46 for Roosevelt, 27 for Taft and 2 for Chafin. Not a single Social ist vote was polled in the county. The polls were not opened in Iron Springs district. COUNTY’S COURT EXPENSES SB,OOO No Funds to Pay Novem ber City Court A PERPLEXING SITUATION County Commissioner J. O. Gaston Says County Is Broke— Judge Fletcher Convenes Court Monday Declaring that the county has already issued warrants amount ing to about SB,OOO, for court purposes, and that there is not any money on hand to pay the expenses of the November term of the City Court of Jackson, County Commissioner J. 0. Gas ton has asked Judge H. M. Fletcher to postpone the court until after the first of January. Judge Fletcher, it is stated, says he will be obliged to hold court for at least a part of the week. This is the perplexing situation the first of the week, and what the outcome will he is not known. Mr. Gaston is quoted as saying that he will be forced to turn down the warrants, as there is no money on hand. The court expenses this year have been heavier than usual, and the levy for that purpose has been ex hausted, it is said. Mr. Gaston’s idea in wanting the court postponed until after the first of next year was to take advantage of the new levy for court purposes, it is said. There is a good deal of civil and criminal business to be dis posed of by the court. Unless the Court of Appeals renders a decision in the case now pending regarding the jurisdiction of the City Court of Jackson, none of the cases against the Central Georgia Power Company will be tried. In case the decision is rendered and the lower court is upheld a good many of these cas es will be ready for trial next week. The criminal docket con tains the usual number of cases. Judge Fletcher announces that only criminal cases will be taken up next week.
