The law requires all license taxes to be paid before the house opens for business on the Ist day of Jan uary so the matter must be set tled at once. Slot machines-Merchandise, BUTTS COUNTY TAX ASSESSORS ORGANIZE Bat ts county’s board of Tax As sessors met last week and organ zed by electing W. D. Curry chairman and Joseph Jolly clerk. YTr. Curry holds the six year ap oointment, Mr. Woodward the four year term and Mr. Hoard was appointed for two years. The members of the board are familiarizing themselves with the Julies of their office and will be ready to begin active work with in the next few weeks. It will tie the duty of the board to go over the tax returns of the coun ty and also to work in conjunc tion with the state board, of which Judge John C. Hart is at the head. M.E. Washington For Cos. Treasurer Mr. M. E. Washington threw his hat into the ring for the office of County Treasurer this week, his announcement being publish ed in this issue. This statement will ne read with interest by the many friends of Mr Washington and the public generally, his en try making the second for that office. Mr. Washington is one of Butts county’s leading and most highly respected citizens and stands not only well in his own district but throughout the coun ty. He is prominently interest ed in church and lodge work.
