Maddox with whom he was visiting the schools of the county, Monday, Farm Demonstration Agent H. L. Worsham sustained a broken arm. His right arm was broken at the wrist, and it will be sever al days before Mr. Worsham will be able to use the injured mem ber. The fracture is a painful one. The accident happened at Cork and Mr. Worsham was brought to Jackson to have the limb dressed. Though suffering acute pain. Mr. Worsham displayed rare nerve. The injury is doing as well as could be expected un- der the conditions. Though he has been in Butts county but a short time Mr. Wor sham has made a large number of friends who will sympathize with him in the present misfor tune. Car of Bananas received every week. Mr. Tom McDonald and Miss La Rue Pope spent Sunday after noon at Woodstown. Quite a number of young peo ple attended Sunday school at Sardis Sunday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Milton Wilson spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Bob Lamb. Mr. Fred Lofton, Misses Lessie Stodghill and Nellie Lofton were visitors to Jackson Saturday. Messrs. Lennie and Rupert Washington spent Monday ini Jackson. Mr. Cleverland Aiken spent the week end at home. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Hammond and little daughter, Mary, spent Sunday in Jackion. WISE FOR CONGRESS ANNOUNCES THIS WEEK Congressional Politics to Get Busy Brilliant Young Attorney Will Content Congress Seat With Judge Charles L. Bartlett of Macon With the formal announcement of Hon. J. W. Wise for congress this week, politics in the sixth congressional district will take on much of interest for every voter in the twelve counties. It has been known for some time that Mr. Wise would make the race and his card in the va rious papers of the district will be of wide interest. This action of the Fayetteville statesman did not occasion surprise but will cause wide comment, much of a favorable nature, moreover. Indications at this stage of the game are that Mr. Wise is going to make the greatest race of his career and the man who beats him is going to know he has been in a fight. Fora period of sev- eral years Mr. Wise has been be fore the people in a public capac ity. He served in the general assembly with distinction and is the author of some of the most wholesome legislation enacted in a decade. He was possibly the most brilliant solicitor-general the Flint circuit ever had. Two years ago, after serving one term as prosecuting attorney, he made the race for congress against Judge Bartlett and John R. Cooper, Esq. The race was titanic. Judge Bartlett, a sea soned campaigner, was pushed to the utmost to win. It was the work of the Old Guard and the Reserves and the Invinci bles in Bibb that saved the day for Judge Bartlett. The country counties went for Wise by good majorities. There has always been a question in the minds of many as to the re sult of that election. Wise con tested the election before the committee and lost. He will now contest before the electorate of the sixth congressional district. Walter Wise is widely popular in this section. One of his dis tinguished characteristics is his honesty and sincerity. That he is of congressional caliber is not subject to dispute. Whether Judge Bartlett, after a service in congress of twenty years, will enter the lists again this year is not known. He is the dean of the Georgia delegation in congress and one of the oldest members in point of service in the house of representatives.
