PARK FOR STATE TREASURER Never Before a Candidate for Any Pub lic Office—Salesman, Old Soldier and Farmer—Ben F. Perry, Chief Clerk. Lem M. Park, who has announced bis candidacy for Treasurer of the state of Georgia, subject to the Democratic pri mary on Wednesday, August 19, 1914, is making a personal canvass of the state in an automobile. JS Colonel Lem M. Park is the youngest brother of the late Captain Robert E. Park, who was State Treasurer at the time of his death from an old war wound. He was born in Meriwether county, and lived in that and Troup county until recently, when he be came a resident of Atlanta. Colonel Park has farming and other interests in both Meriwether and Troup counties, and is a life member of the State Agricultural society. For sixteen years he traveled over Georgia as a salesman for New York houses, and will be remembered pleasantly by the older merchants of the state. While yet but a boy, he left school to enter the Confederate service. He is enthusiastic in his devotion to the ‘‘Lost Cause,” and never misses the annual U. C. V. reunions, nor any gath ering of old soldiers when possible for him to attend. He was captain on the staff of Gen. de Vaughn of Montezu ma;' a major on the staff of General J. H. Martin of Hawkinsville, and also a major on the staff of General Daven port of Americus, and is now colonel on the staff of the U. C. V. commander in-chief. Colonel Park has never before been a candidate for any public office, and now comes before the people of his native state asking their vote and in fluence for State Treasurer, promising faithful, conscientious service. THAXTON WRITES OF HIS RETURN TO BUTTS After suffering the tortures of severe rheumatism for about two years and trying almost every known remedy and trying many doctors, I am now under my own vine and fig tree at home. I have suffered as only those who have tried it know, for those who have not had rheumatism in its dan gerous forms know how severe it is. In order to try a warmer cli mate last summer I was induced to go to extreme south Georgia and drink artesian water and from some of the noted mineral springs in Florida, hoping to find relief for my racked limbs. No relief seemed to be in sight and then I went farther down till the Indian river was reached and after spending the winter months among the orange groves, where there were no severe frosts, there was some feeling of help. I hope now I will find some simple rem edy that will work a complete cure, for I have found, what many others know, that every case of rheumatism is different from every other case and that it requires a different treatment to any other case. We did not move away but left our furniture and other home fix tures ready to come back when ever my condition would warrant it. Health, of course, is the greatest blessing vouchsafed to a human being and happy should a man be who is blessed with a reasonable portion of it. I did not know what it was to be with out health till I was stricken down with a malignant form of rheu matism some years ago, and now my sympathy goes out to every one who has suffered as I have. Woods, V. H. Carmichael, and Bert K. Carmichael, all said State and County, respectfully shows:— 1. That they desire for themselves, their associates and successors, to be incorporated and made a body politic under the name and style of “WOODS-CARMICHAEL DRUG AND BOOK COMPANY” for the period of twenty years, with the privilege of renewal thereof at the end of said period. 2. That the principal office and place of business of said corporation shall be in the City of Jackson, said State and County, but petitioners de sire the right to establish branch offices within the State or elsewhere whenev er and wherever the holders of a ma jority of the stock may so determine. 3. That the object of said corpora tion is pecuniary gain to itself and its stockholders. •J. That the principal and particular business to be carried on by said cor poration is a general drug and book business and engage in the buying and selling of all kinds of drugs, medicines, cigarettes, cigars, tobacco, toilet arti cles, rubber goods, paints, seeds and all other articles and merchandise usually sold in a drug store, and to manufac ture and compound drugs and medi cines, and to manufacture, buy and sell, soda water and other cold and hot drinks, candies and confectioneries, also books, stationery, papers, magazines and such other articles and merchan dise as are sold in a book store, also to hold and sell goods an commission and to act as agent for other companies, persons and corporations. 5. That that capital stock of said corporation shall be Five Thousand Dollars ($5000.00), with the privilege of increasing same to Twenty-five Thou sand Dollars ($25,000.00) by a majority vote of the stock of said corporation. Said stock to be divided into shares of One Hundred Dollars ($100.00) each. 6. That that the whole of the capi tal stock of Five Thousand Dollars ($5)000.00) has been actually paid in. 7. Petitioners desire for said corpo ration the right to sue and be sued, to plead and be impleaded, to have and use a common seal, to make all neces sary by-laws and regulations and to do all other things that may be necessary for the successful carrying on of said business, including the right to buy, sell, own, lease, rent or otherwise hold real estate and personal property suit able to the purposes of the corporation, to borrow and loan money and to ex ecute or take notes and bonds and oth er such papers as evidence of indebted ness incurred by or owing to it, in the conduct of the business and affairs of the corporation and to secure same by mortgage, security deed or other forms of liens under existing laws. 8.
