SARAH REDMAN PASSES TO BEYOND The death of Mrs. S. E. Red man occurred at the home of her son, Mr. W. C. Redman. Monday morning at 9:30 o’clock and fol lowed an illness extending over a period of two years. She was stricken with paralysis a little more than two years ago, but on ly recently took a turn for the worse. News of her death came as a severe shock to a wide circle of friends over the county. Mrs. Redman was one of the most beloved and highly respec ted women in the county. Hers was a beautiful Christian charac ter and she was widely known and esteemed for a life of unsel fish devotion to the happiness of her family and those about her. She had attained a ripe age, her 74th birthday having been cele brated on the first of July. Mrs. Redman was a Miss Mad dox before marriage and belong ed to a prominent family of the county. Surviving her are two daughters, Mrs. Mary Saunders, Mrs. Sarah Guest; five sons, Col. C. L. Redman, Messrs. J. C. and W. C. Redman of Butts county, T. E. Redman of Mcßae and L. F. Redman of Griffin; one sister, Mrs. J. Matt McMichael and one brother, Mr. Charlie Maddox of South Georgia and several grand children. The funeral was held from the residence of Mr. W. C. Redman Tuesday morning at 10 o’clock and was largely attended, many friends gathering to pay a last tribute. Rev. Mr. Askew con ducted the services. Interment was in the Redman-Harper fam ily cemetery. In their bereavement the fami ly have the sympathy of a host of friends. JACKSON RIFLES OFF TO CAMP WHEELER Under command of Capt. L. H. Hendrick and Lieut. J. A. Mc- Clure, the Jackson Rifles left Tuesday night at 7:10 for Augus ta where ten days will be spent in camp along with other mem bers of the Georgia National Guard and troops from the two Carolinas and Florida. The site of the camp is four miles from Augusta and there is 300 acres in the drill field. There will be opportunities for boating and swimming and the site is considered an ideal one and the trip will doubtless be a pleasant one for all who attend. Col. J. A. Thomas, Jr., of Ma con will have command of the second regiment to which the Jackson Rifles are attached. There are about 600 men in the second regiment and there will be several thousand in camp alto gether. The camp will be called Camp Wheeler. Captain H. W. Copeland of the medical corps is attending the camp with the second. Capt. Hendrick carried some forty odd men to camp. Mrs. Milton Wilson, Misses Myrtle and Cassie Oliver spent Tuesday afternoon with Mrs. W. F. Stodghill. Mr. and Mrs. Dean Kinard, of Commerce, are visiting relatives here. Miss Nellie Lofton was the week end guest of Miss Lizzie Fincher. Miss Lessie Stodghill spent the week end with Mrs. Milton Wil son.
