He met his hostess at the door and after the usual salutations he asked after the baby’s health. The lady who was quite deaf, and suffering with the grippe, thought he was asking after her cold, and an swered that although she usually had one every winter, this was the worst one she had ever had; it kept her awake at night and at first confined her in bed. Then noticing that the news paper man was getting ner vous she said she could tell by his looks that he was going to have one just like hers and ask ed him to go in and sit down.
