BUTTS SHftULB
HAVE A FLOAT
SI,OOO OFFERED

Harvest Festival Parade
Great Event
Atlanta, November 4—Butts
county will overlook the most
valuable opportunity of the vear
for advertising its industries and
resources, unless it has represen
tation in the Agricultural Day
parade and exhibition in Atlanta,
Thursday, November, 18. This
is the view expressed by the di
rectors of the Georgia Harvest
Festival association, including
prominent citizens from every
section of the state.
The directors call attention to
the fact that the expense is com
paratively small and that no en
terprising county can afford to
stay out. An attractive float
can be prepared for S2O or $25,
and the counties can put as much
more into it as they wish.
A special advisory board and
executive committe has been ap
pointed for Butts county to take
up the matter of having it repre
sented in the Agricultural Day
parade, in which there will be
keen competition for the big prize
of SI,OOO in gold offered for the
best county float, as well as for
the other prizes including a num
ber of pieces of valuable agricul
tural machinery.
Counties in every section of the
state have already arranged to
be represented in this parade and
particularly fine showing will be
made by northwest Georgia and
s uth and southwest Georgia,
Whitfield county alone will have
3 or 4 floats in the agricultur
al parade. The same is true
of Brooks county, while south
west Georgia has a special com
mittee appointed to look after rep
resentation from that section,
headed by John H. Mock, of Al
bany, as chairman.
The flouts ip the jswepde will
be judged as follows.: Fifty points
for the best artistic eflect, 25
points for the best variety, and
25 points for the best Quality.
The details of the parade are
in charge of the Ad Men’s club
of Atlanta, who are working to
the end that it shall be distinctly
a Georgia affair represenative of
the whole state. It is felt that
t is an opportunity for Butts
county which it cannot afford to
o .erlook.
