There’s no better way to make

Christmas.
With Nat Harris and Dr. Hard
man both running as dry candi
dates that plank is likely to be
somewhat crowded.
As soon as Bill J. Harris begun
investigating the price of gaso

with a 3-cent raise. Hope Bill
doesn’t investigate any more.

Some plain, old fashioned hon
esty in governmental affairs is
what Georgia needs. The idea of
the legislature making appropri
ations $600,000 in excess of in
come! If the substantial business
element doesn't take charge of
things and send the small-bore
self-seeking politician back to
private life the public business
is likely to become somewhat in
volved.
What the people want is more
constructive, substantial results
and fewer promises, in the public
business. And this goes for
Messrs. Hardman, Harris and
the lesser lights.
The Christmas edition of the
Madisonian, of Madison, Ga , was
a gem dandy. It consisted of
forty-four pages, with attractive
cover, and was liberally patron

ison. The edition was *n effec
tive advertisement for Madison,
Morgan county and the Madison

The Holiday and Industrial
edition of the Cochran Journal,
containing forty pages, was one
of the best we have seen. The
reading matter was of an enter

ments arranged attractively. The
Journal deserves a lot of credit
for putting out such a splendid
paper.

AN APPRECIATION OF
MR. C. SHUG MADDOX
Mr. Maddox departed this life
on November 24 and was buried
at Macedonia church. He was 64
years old. All men have their
friends and all men have their
special friends and he was one of
mine. It grew up with us from
our earliest boyhood and it lasted
even down to old age. Our friend
ship was as close as any tie that
binds and as lasting as the eter
nal hills. He was a member of
Pleasant Grove church instead of
Beulah church as was stated in a
previous notice of his death. He
was a man of deep convictions
and had his own ideas about cer
tain things and his conception of
right was what made him the
high toned Christian gentleman he
was and those who knew him best
were the ones who loved him
most. He told me a few days be
fore he took his bed that this
earthlv tabernacle would soon be
dissolved but I know I have an
other building made without
hands, eternal in the heavens.
He has gone* to that city whose
builder is God and whose gates
are not shut neither by day nor
by night.
A Friend.

past middle age find these pills a splen
