Brides-to-Be are usually
fully preoccupied with th(f fact
that they are about to acquire
one of that species known as
“husbands.” As to the care
and feeding of this particular
possession, I can’t help you.
But I can tell you that the
word “husband” comes from
the Norwegian word, “Huns
Bonds” which means “peasant
with a house.”
Nowadays, not every new
husband comes complete with
a house. In Norway, though,
a man was required by law to
own his home before he could
get married.
Weddings were big in Nor
way. When the daughter of a
well-to-do household married,
the servant of the household
requested to be married on
that day also. It must have re
quired a tremendous amount
of silverware and crystal to
take care of a Wedding Party
that large!
If you have the same prob
lem, a Wedding and not
enough Silver, remember that
SHIELDS JEWELERS will be
most happy to lend you the
Silver Candelabra, Coffee Ser
vice, Punch Bowl and Cups,
and other items for you recep
tion. There is no charge for
this service. It’s just another
way that SHIELDS JEWEL
ERS is prepared to help make
your Wedding everything you
dream it will be.
Asa Bridal Consultant,
trained by the National Bridal
Service, I’ll really enjoy help
ing you with any other prob
lems you may have. Do come
