MRS. WINNIE MOORE GAVE
CHEROKEE CLUB POINTERS
ON FLOWER ARRANGEMENTS
Members of the Cherokee Gar
den Club were given many point
ers on flower arrangements by
Mrs. Jack Moore at their meeting
Thursday night, February 6, at
the home of Mrs. J. S. Ball Jr.
Joint hostesses with Mrs. Ball
were Mrs. Wm. M. Davis, Mrs.
John Hunt, and Mrs. Doyle Jones
Jr.
Asa forerunner of the work
shop scheduled for Tuesday night,
February 25th at the home of
Mrs. J. W. Carter, Mrs. Moore
gave interesting information on
arrangements, describing them
as bundles of sweet thoughts
done up in a neat package. She
told of elements needed to make
arrangements, gathering of flow
ers, preparation of stems, defoli
ation, preservation, and design
ing.
In regard to church arrange
ments, she said the architectural
line of the church should be con
■■ idercd. The decorations should
! ave a unity of plan and all parts
harmonize. The arrangements
: hould be dignified and impres
sive and the flowers used must
have carrying power.
Three types of mass arrange
ments suitable for church as
given by Mrs. Moore are massed
triangle, massed oval, and massed
vertical.
She touched on flower ar
rangements for a dining table,
stating the arrangement can ex
press any mood, all depending up
on the china used and the flowers
and accessories. She advised
against using candles for deco
rations; always burn them. In
closing she said “Flower arrange
ments are the mirror of the
Soul."
Mrs. V. H. Ham, whose term
as president expired with the Feb
ruary meeting, welcomed Mrs.
Charles W. Carter, Mrs. Robert
L, Williams, and Mrs. David
Hack as new members. Mrs.
Gerald Ross was a special guest.
She announced the Southern Liv
ing Show to he held in Atlanta
at Southern Civic Convention
