Connecticut Belle Announces
Engagement To Bruce Comer
Mr. and Mrs. Harvey John
Field, Jr., of 10 Edgewater Drive,
Old Greenwich, Connecticut, for
merly of Atlanta, Georgia, an
nounce the engagement of their
daughter, Susan Lee Field, to
Officer Candidate Bruce Wayne
Comer, who is now serving with
the U. S. Army. He is the son
of Mr. and Mrs. J. M. L. Comer
of Jackson, Georgia.
Miss Field was graduated from
North Fulton High School in At
lanta, Georgia. She attended the
University of Georgia, where she
was a member of the Honors
Program, Alpha Lambda Delta
Honor Society, and Pi Beta Phi
Sorority. She also served as Rush
Chairman for Pi Beta Phi Sorori
ty and as a Freshman Orientation
Leader for the University.
Officer Candidate Comer re
ceived his BBA degree in Busi
ness Administration from the
University of Georgia where he
was a member of Phi Kappa Tau
Fraternity. He is at present sta
tioned at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla
homa, where he will receive his
commission in March.
The wedding will be in March.
BROWNIE NEWS
The Brownie Troops went on a
trip to Covington where they
viewed a puppet show, “Alice in
Wonderland.’’ We all had a good
time with the show beginning at
3 p. m. and ending at 5:44.

TROOP 246 ELECTED
OFFICERS FOR 1969
Jr. Girl Scout Troop 246 met
February 4. After the business
our leader announced the new
Patrol leaders and assistant lead
ers for 1969. Leaders are Jean
Earnhart, Jenny Tharpe and
Faith Letson. Assistant leaders
are Beverly Raynor, Denise
Bunch and Robin Holloway. The
officers for 1969 are Faith Let
son, Secretary; Robin Holloway,
Treasurer; and Jean Earnhart,
Reporter.
The announcement of the Girl
Scout cookie sale was made. It
will start on February 14.
Trude Tharpe has planned a
Valentine party for our troop. It
will be given on Wednesday, Feb
ruary 12.
Our troop was honored with
the Flag Ceremony put on by
members of the Cadettes, Debra
Bunch, Janet Holloway and Bren
da Jenkins. Denise Bunch assist
ed the Cadettes. The girls are
working on their Active Citizen
ship Challenge. The Jr. Troop
wishes them good luck and we are

Miss Ruth Phinazee attended
the funeral of her uncle, Mr.
Kenneth Hines, at Leslie on Fri
day. Mr. Hines was the husband
of Mrs. Phinazee’s sister.
